    Ebike touring and camping

For me efficency is the key to success. Start with a lightweigt bike, add tires with low rolling resistance, try to keep air resistance low, try to keep the weight low. I now use a 13s9p battery made from LG MJ1 cells, that's around 1.4kWh Drive is a BionX D which is lightweight cmpared to...

    World's most efficient wind turbine?

Nope. If you remove more of 59% of the wind's energy the air mass after the wind turbine (no matter the design) becomes so slow that it would block more air to enter the turbine like a wall.

    World's most efficient wind turbine?

Theoretical maximum efficency of a wind turbine is 16/27 or ca. 59%, this is physic and impossible to surpass (Betz's law) Typical 3 blade rotors are able to reach around 30% efficiency. A wind turbie 5 times better is impossible. In reality this design will have a much lower efficency. The...

Hydrogen Drive - We Made the Battery Obsolete

For my needs batteries are just fine. 1kWh for 4,5kg and up to 2000W peak does the trick for me. The thing I would be interested in is a 1500W charging system for it that weights just around 1kg. Hydrogen + fuel cells never had a chance for laptops, is already losing the battle for cars and...

The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

Hello, I would like it very much if the Cycle Satiator could also evaluate a "temperature signal" (10k NTC) from a lithium-ion battery in the future. On the one hand, I would find such a temperature display interesting, but it is also a safety feature to be able to reduce the charging currents...

Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

The< are available under ideal conditions somewhwere in Iceland or a hot spot in Italy. In Germany electricity from them costs around 50ct/kWh, which is 10times the price for solar and wind (and that's only if you use cheap electriicty for the pumps which consume up to 50% of the lectricty...

Commercial hydrogen airplane are at least imaginable: https://www.airbus.com/newsroom/press-releases/en/2020/09/airbus-reveals-new-zeroemission-concept-aircraft.html Military aircraft will continue to use hydrocarbons.

Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Yes it is. Most likely a forecast in our near future. This is what lokal climate experts believe. I'm sure you know it better. My opinion still remains the same: I do bot care paying 100 Euro/year more for electricity, tha'ts peanuts. But I do care a lot if our forests die and burn.

Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

This could be the reason why Venezuela with dirt cheap energy is an export powerhouse while Germany is unable to feed its population. Oh wait... Please stop trying to educate me on things you obviously have not the slightest idea about. (which is no problem, I do not expect anyone here to know...

Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Actually Germany has zero national subsidies for new RE projects. What Germany does have is FITs. There are now a few offshore windparks and solar parks taht do not even get/want FITs. That's the concept of the EEG. But staring in 1.1.2021 the oldest RE power plants will leavethat system...

See attached file. Source: https://ec.europa.eu/energy/sites/ener/files/quarterly_report_on_european_electricity_markets_q_4_2019_final.pdf Retail prices for households are VERY different from wholesale electricity prices and have not much to do with the cost of electriicty generation.

You are form Alberta? we all know very well how "strict" your enivironmental rules are. Really nice what you are doing over there: Are there any plans to "reclamate" that hell you made? Doesn't look like to me. It's not very suprising that the most vehement promoters against environemental...

And who will build them? From the last UK plan of 6 new reactors only three started construction. Hinkley C is a financial desaster and many years behind schedule, another two have been stopped forever costing their Japanes builders billions. The last three never even started. UK needs a few...

Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Not in Germany. Fallig interest rates play a minor role, but this is compensated by operating costs, which didn't fall by the same amount. If you are able to sell solar electricity in Germany for 5ct/kWh at an installation cost of 2.000USD/kWh feel free to do so. It is not possible.

Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Feed in tariff for utility solar was 21ct/kWh in late 2012 and has falled to 5ct/kWh until the end of 2017 see green line and white+black framed dots... So yes, price for utility solar dropped more than 75% in just 5 years in Germany. It should be similar in US and elsewhere. (see actual WEO...

ENBW as the Investor does not tell the cost. https://www.energate-messenger.de/news/196338/guesewell-die-kostenbasis-ist-nicht-phantasie-sondern-real- They expect the solar park to run for 40 years and they expect it to be profitably without any subsidies. The market price for solar...

Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Over here almost noone in the energy sector uses capacity factor, but "Volllaststunden" 1.000kWh/kWp is the same as 1000 Volllaststunden That's the typical price for utility solar over here. Even 400-500€/kWp is possible. 1 kWp PV capacity produces around 20.000kWh in 20 years in Germany...

Price payed for electricity from Utility PV in Germany. This is in cloudy Germany with 1000kWh/kWp per year and it does not only include the cost, but also the Profit for the companies building them. Obviously such electricity prices do require total investment costs of around 600-700€/kWp...
