    Can I charge 60v SLA with a 72v charger?

Hi everyone, I noticed my 60v charger stops charging at a certain point but it looks like some batteries could use more charge. I have a 72v charger. When i connect it, it appears to be chargin - is it ok to do this? Will it attempt to charge the 60v to 72+? Can I just keep it on for a...

New 100v controller is slower than old 75v - what's wrong?

Thanks man - I will go with 24s and split them to charge them with a 12s charger. Sounds like around $500 to do the conversion. Maybe I will do that in the spring but it kind of makes me want to just ditch the scooter style and go with a setup like you got.

New 100v controller is slower than old 75v - what's wrong?

Update: With the batteries fully charged, the self test done, and the fastest speed combo hardwired the bike now seems to be fast. It takes longer than I would like it to to reach top speeds but the top speed is great and with this new controller the power seems distributed better. I haven't...

New 100v controller is slower than old 75v - what's wrong?

Dman bro that was not what I wanted to hear. So let me get this straight: If the big Blue, Yellow, Green are matched now like this: B->Y G->B Y-G Does that mean I do the exact same setup with the halls? Does this mean that I need to find a combo with the big BGY first and then match the...

New 100v controller is slower than old 75v - what's wrong?

No I never tested it with the GPS. That being said, it feels slower. I have used the self test and it looks like it re-aligned it. I have figured out the fastest speed setting. I will see tomorrow how it goes on a decent trip with fully charged batteries. I definitely think I need to make...

New 100v controller is slower than old 75v - what's wrong?

thanks man... I played around with different combinations of hall wires and the only combo I could get was to make the wheel go in reverse, so i then swapped around the large phase wires until it worked. Still seems to go the same speed. Maybe there is another magical combination I have not...

New 100v controller is slower than old 75v - what's wrong?

My existing 3 speed switch fell off so I hardwired the blue and black together already. As I said in my previous post, I just hardwired the blue and black together on the new controller.

New 100v controller is slower than old 75v - what's wrong?

Thanks man - I hardwired the blue and black - it doesn't seem much different and it doesn't feel right. It is smooth but there should be more power. I will try changing around the group of 5 wires (or those hall or phase?) as well sigh - I didn't want to touch them because they all fit in a...

New 100v controller is slower than old 75v - what's wrong?

Yes it is. Maybe it is slower because somehow it is fried. I don't think so though. The wires did NOT match up. I had to try a variety of combos with the Green, Blue, Yellow -- some combos just made a grinding action, one combo went back smoothly, I found a combo that was forward and smooth...

New 100v controller is slower than old 75v - what's wrong?

continued from my other thread: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=56946&p=850125#p850125 My bike was 70v stock SLA. I added 2x 12v 20ah SLA's Was now 84v. My old controller seemed to be able to handle the higher voltage for about 45 days before it blew. I also think it...

Epic fail installing new controller - burned my hands

UPDATE: Everything works :) I took it out for a spin around the block yesterday. Even with the shunt mod done, the bike seems to have less torque than before and only hit 40km/h With my old controller, I had more torque and my top speed as 45k/h and it was limited - I could do 45 going uphill...

Epic fail installing new controller - burned my hands

lol thanks for the kind replies. these were separate incidents: 1. Without power going to the controller (I have a switch that disables power) AND the negative wire was removed from the switch it arced when I tried to shunt it. It arced when I tried to shunt it in my office here an hour ago...

Epic fail installing new controller - burned my hands

So I got my new controller today. Finally figured out how to connect everything, took it for a quick test drive and things were fine with the exception of the speedometer showing 0.00 constantly.. I was thinking as I rode it, I definitely want to increase the shunt on this thing. Then the...

Do you think this 72v controller can handle 84v?

Cool. I can't imagine being WOT for 4.7 mins lol. Considering it will be 45.5 going up a steep hill it should be able to hit 55 on flat, downhill - who knows :D

Do you think this 72v controller can handle 84v?

i think the rim is 17" - so I am about 22" with the tire on. It is a scooter style bike that is why the wheels are small. How can I figure out the rpm of the motor?

Do you think this 72v controller can handle 84v?

It is a 500w motor. The wheel size is 17". I have no idea the motor rpm. At 60v it went 32km/hr, at 72v in went 39, and at 84v it went 46km/hr (because of the limiter in the old controller) I keep checking the mailbox. Controller should be here any day now. I am really curious how fast I...

Do you think this 72v controller can handle 84v?

Ok got it thanks. I have a questions. Before I could go 45km/h going uphill. How fast do you think I could go on flat or downhill without the limitation?

Do you think this 72v controller can handle 84v?

Ok cool thanks. So is there a 3 speed switch wire(s) coming out of the controller that WAS connected to my 3 speed switch on my bike? And I simply don't connect anything to the controller or are you saying I need to disable the switch built into my bike? I am pretty sure my speedometer was...

Do you think this 72v controller can handle 84v?

it went faster with 2 of the wires connected together. At least it did when it was at 60v. which wires in that diagram go to this speed switch? Can I just not connect it? What is the motor speed sensor wire for?

Do you think this 72v controller can handle 84v?

That's awesome! I am looking forward to going even faster than before! Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo *crash* It was originally limited to 32km/h because that is the law here in Canada. I am not sure how they did it. There was 2 white wires coming out of the controller but they were...
