I charged my battery pack below zero, is it now a fire hazard?

I won’t take the risk. Thanks guys. What should I do with the pack? Anyone here want it?

Anyone here checking out the EVs at the 2025 NY AUTO SHOW?

I’m surprised no one mentions this show or Electrify Expo here. I been to Electrify Expo twice and it was great. I’ll post it before I go again in here, if I remember.

I charged my battery pack below zero, is it now a fire hazard?

I meant below zero C ambient temperature, as in freezing. I don’t think it was done more than say half a dozen times. It appears to hold the same charge for months and I have charged it since, without noticing any degradation in performance. It’s a small pack for a skateboard 10s2p, so...

I charged my battery pack below zero, is it now a fire hazard?

I just learned it creates lithium dendrites that may tear the barriers and can cause a fire. How real of a problem is this? Should I throw away the battery or it should be ok to keep using? I’m no DIYer, or engineer, but I sincerely regret making such a silly mistake. Any where I can bring it in...

Arrow-7 Review... NYC's most prevalent eBike

Can you give examples? Heck, I’d even be interested in a solid lightweight ebike conversion kit for $400-600, not sure how that’s possible, as em3ev batteries start at $275!!

    Fried XT-60's

I just tried plugging in my new battery pack I bought from Backfire, and I saw a big brown spark through the yellow plastic as the connectors touched, then quickly pulled them apart. Is my XT-60 connectors about to get fried too? I didn’t expect that from a prebuilt board like the Backfire G2...

Arrow-7 Review... NYC's most prevalent eBike

I think e-bikes are legal in NYC now. It’s frustrating seeing you have your Ebike confiscated and held captive for a $500 ransom, based on these flip-floppy laws. I’ve seen pictures in local papers of the countless confiscated ebikes & it’s steered me away from getting one. But it does make...

Backfire 2017 G2 battery pack recommendations

This guy on YouTube connects the batteries in parallel. Is it safe to do? Someone in the comments mentioned it’s unsafe because it doesn’t have a limiter. The guy making the video retorted he’s done 1,000 miles, it’s not a problem. Who’s correct? Here’s how he connects the 2nd battery...

Backfire 2017 G2 battery pack recommendations

I went with the vtc6 pack from backfire last night. I also upgraded the ESC, they claim 15% greater efficiencies, but not sure how to test that. I just saw on their IG post from a while back, they discovered a flaw in their suppliers bms, halted shipping to return them to supplier & offered...

Backfire 2017 G2 battery pack recommendations

Even 8-12 mph max, is what I do working, realistically. Will slow speeds put less strain on the battery, while heavy stop and go traffic regen a few more miles? Are light electric skateboards twice as efficient as 60+ lb. ebikes, due to their lighter weight & harder durometer urethane wheels...

Backfire 2017 G2 battery pack recommendations

Using it for food delivery, 8 hour day. Don’t need to go faster than 12-15 mph, thanks! :) Found out since, the meepo pack won’t fit my enclosure. So the questions remain for the vtc6.

Backfire 2017 G2 battery pack recommendations

Looking for something to replace my 10s2p pack, what is the safest & lasts the longest in terms of cycles & range? The only 2 options I know of are going with: Backfire’s vtc6, which I don’t know the how many cycles, safety or how well the battery pack is manufactured Or Meepo’s 40 T...

Arrow-7 Review... NYC's most prevalent eBike

I inquired to the 3 shops that carry the Arrow-7 in NYC 2 months ago, each said they now charge $1480, instead of the $1450 advertised price online, b/c they use the new panasonic cells. Still an excellent value for 48v 20aH, they even come with Schwalbe Marathon tires!! For a couple of...

Thanks all! :D How are empowered cycles battery packs quality? I am considering their 52v pack, if ES members have had good experiences with this site: https://www.empoweredcycles.com/collections/batteries/products/new-hailong-3-52-volt-17-5-ah-panasonic-ga

    1. How do ES members safely charge batteries in apts, when charging in a garage or outside your home is not an option? 2. Which seller's battery packs are built the best & offer the least risk of catching fire? 3. Are there any battery enclosures that offer some fire protection?

Looking for a safe 1st ebike. I've read ES stories of battery fires & have been hesitant. I can't charge in a garage, b/c I'm in an apt. Here are my 2 options I'm considering. Thanks. Option 1 Arrow-7: http://www.flyebike.com/?portfolio=arrow-7 Speed: 30 MPH Range: 50 Miles Battery...

I like the range, but it only looks to be going 6-7 mph in the above video w/ the pro skater. I Kick scoot faster than that on my Micro Kick Black. I avg. 9.8 MPH.

Wow, a 25 mile range is impressive at $400 cheaper, compared to 5-6 miles range offered by Boosted Boards, at roughly the same weight. I realize the Boosted Boards is 7 mph faster. Does it have Regenerative braking like the Boosted Boards?
