Blown battery pcb question, not a bms

You do good without seeing more than you have. >It's hard to tell what the circuit board is doing exactly as it is not a typical ebike part. It’s not a typical anything part. >Just guessing it is a charge controller for Nimh. From what I see, yes with the required dedicated Panasonic...

Blown battery pcb question, not a bms

Sorry I missed the last two thoughtful responses. I'll try to explain what I learned. I was using two different batteries. One was the original ten year old Nimh which I thought I had wakened up. The other is a new NMC, and it is the one that really confused me because it was charged. Both...

Blown battery pcb question, not a bms

Update, this is solved. The problem was that I switched battery chemistries which seemed to cause a pcb within the battery box to fail when I connected it to the replacement cells. It turned out that all I had to do was plug the battery pack (original cells) back in to the chair to reset the...

Blown battery pcb question, not a bms

The fuse is between the pcb and the pigtail to the wheelchair. It is not affected by this since it wasn't connected. I see no other fuse. I think the voltage regulator you mean is marked U5 on the schematic. I found that on the backside of the pcb, lower rt near where power come in, 8 legs...

Blown battery pcb question, not a bms

That one blinking red light is the only sign of life, but all four lights should be steady on instead. Nothing works, there is no 24V+ output at the connection to the chair pigtail like there should be. And I just now hooked the battery up and measured zero voltage across the two outside FET...

Blown battery pcb question, not a bms

These are pics of the same blown battery pcb, left and right side. There is only one MOSFET on the board.

Blown battery pcb question, not a bms

Thanks for thinking about this. I'm having trouble getting my pics small enough to post just now. Nothing appears burnt. Actually this happened twice. I couldn't believe when the backup failed, so I ended up wrecking my main board too. The speed controller would not be involved since it was...

    confused between Amp and mAh

So I want to try to put this in to terms I can understand. The Amps part is like how big of a bucket energy you have. And the mAh is like the size of the spigot at the bottom indicating how much you can get out at wide open. Correct it in those type terms anyone.

Blown battery pcb question, not a bms

What could the trouble be? I had a weak but working 24V NIMH battery pack for something called an IGlide wheelchair. Name doesn’t matter too much except it is a light weight chair with two brushed motors and the controller is on the chair. The battery pack has it’s own circuit board which is...

    confused between Amp and mAh

I have some battery packs which are made up of cells marked: Samsung ICR18650-22P They are supposed to be 4.4Ah, which I think I understand since there are 14 cells which would be two sets in parallel. Does that sound correct? When I google Samsung ICR18650-22P, I find sellers advertising...

    battery type replacement

I want and need to change the type of battery I use in my mobility device. I cannot change the controller. So fully charged what would be the full voltage for the various 24 volt factory fresh packs using the proper charger for each? LifePo4 Nimh Limn Thank you

    Tiny's Wheelchair Project

Glad she's out of the WC. Yes the steering pivots, and pictures are deceptive. Your other Quickie is probably a GPV, another great old chair. The steel folding one is considered a hospital chair, nobody wants heavy steel for permanent use.

    Tiny's Wheelchair Project

Also, it looks like you have the rear wheels about as far forward as possible, but if not move them even more forward. The more weight you can get on the rear wheels and off the front casters the easier the chair will move and turn. You might even consider fabricating something to move the...

    Tiny's Wheelchair Project

You have done a fantastic job of re-purposing the Q2 chair for Tiny. I am a full time wheelchair user myself and these Q2 chairs lend themselves to being rebuilt for quite nicely for other purposes. I think I can help you. Look closely at your caster steering axles. In the wheelchair world...

My original question was not clear. Which kit would work best with my battery?

    JP spot welder

I would only use one battery. I haven’t sourced nickel yet or determined thickness. I was going to experiment until cell welds looked good. Suggestions are welcome.

I have two car starter batteries, but neither are rated in AH. In fact both have the same rating of CCA@ O degrees F 650 and CA @ 32 degrees F 800. What are my options for the two kits using these batteries? BTW this opportunity could not have happened at a better time for me, thank you.

    Bike wont work

Mine would not work from one day to the next. What I discovered was my thumb throttle was partially stuck "on". Once fixed, all good. If you have a thumb or twist throttle, check to be sure it is not binding somewhere and has returned to "off".

    definition of W-h/km please

Thank you, your responses were much more clear than my question. What I am trying to do is find a light weight battery comparable or better to the one I already have referenced above, which I now see is a 10 Ah. I'm thinking this one is equal or better, any thoughts...

    definition of W-h/km please

This site won't allow me to search for W-h/km as it says it contains too many common terms. Okay but wikipedia found it as a common rating for e-batteries. What I want to know is how does it translate to Ah amp hours. Specifically what is a 24 volt battery spec'd at: "Continuous theoretical...

    Build Advice please!

I would find a larger frame, safer and better ride. That said, you have to pick between direct drive and geared motors. I have a 9 continents large diameter direct drive motor in a 20 inch wheel for my trike. The issue I get is loose spokes, so you will have to address that root cause. The...

    BionX battery with non-bionx motor

I'm planning to do just exactly that. I picked up a supposedly broken G1 bionx off craigslist just for fun. It turned out the connection wires were twisted, so on replacing the connectors, I got the thing running just fine. However the motor itself does not suit my need. The battery on the...
