Interbike 2014, Las Vegas Sept 9-13

Spinningmagnets, just wanted to take a moment to say THANKS for all these awesome photos to drool over. Great reporting from Interbike, you're the best dude. I'm now going to click the link to your crossbreak mid-drive writeup, hopefully you'll have more stuff posted when I get back :) Edit...

    Fat MAC: Is it do-able?

Interesting conversation indeed. You may be right that we have very different riding styles. When I'm on a bike (electric or no), I do very much like to pedal--it's how I've always ridden bikes, and I feel like I have more control. I also own a Vespa and full size motorcycle, and those are...

    Fat MAC: Is it do-able?

Yeah, there is a fair amount of shifting gears. In lower power modes, it's just like riding a normal bike. In higher power, you do have to pay some attention (15+mph). I think the BBS02 is actually quite refined, especially on the hardware side. The quality is really surprisingly high, with...

    Fat MAC: Is it do-able?

The Moonlander is kind of a funny animal. Indeed, it runs the widest tires currently available, but it does so using a 135mm drop, and some seriously offset rear stays to preserve the chainline. If you look at the back of the bike, it looks like it's falling over. The rear wheel is also laced...

First e bike custom build I need your input please

I don't own a hubmotor ebike, so this is secondhand information at best, but one thing that jumped out at me regarding your interest in the Magic Pie is the regenerative braking. The issue that folks have run into is having a sufficiently strong torque arm to resist the effects of the regen...

First e bike custom build I need your input please

Wanted to share a few of my thoughts, though I'm sure others with far more experience will chime in. First, I think the BB02 would be a great fit for the type of riding you described. Looks like it should fit your Giant no problem, and you won't need to worry about torque arms on your aluminum...

Built a battery box for my BB02 ride!

Hey Ohzee, thanks. Every Home Depot I've been to has carried this 2" aluminum, it's in the "hardware" section. Handy stuff, I've used it for all kinds of projects.

Built a battery box for my BB02 ride!

Thanks for the comments! I have a thin strip of foam which covers the sharp edges and gives just enough padding to squeeze the battery in the box when I strap down the lid.

Built a battery box for my BB02 ride!

Howdy all, First off, a HUGE thanks to all of endless-sphere for being such an incredible community :) I decided to build a battery box for my recently completed BB02 powered Giant NRS. This is actually version 2 of the box--the original was designed to hold 4 5000mAh Zippy 7s lipos, and had...

    Fat MAC: Is it do-able?

First post on E-S, so take this with a grain of salt. I have a Surly Moonlander, bought it with the intent of making it an ebike, but the problems you're running into put me off the idea of a hubmotor, and the 100mm bottom bracket rules out most mid-drives. Tired of running into a brick wall, I...
