Changing pinion gear bearing in a BBS02

Well, I just hammered and man-handled everything back into place. Seems to be plenty of loners and lone-wolves who keep to themselves in here in regards to helping a brother out. Bothersome place.

Changing pinion gear bearing in a BBS02

Already used this. Not finding much in relation to the bearings install/removal.

Changing pinion gear bearing in a BBS02

Even when the throttle is being used, there's still mechanical resistance. Lots of grinding coming from the motor. I did take out the nylon main drive gear that gets spun by the main shaft gear coming from the motor winding. The one way bearing in the nylon gear didn't seem to be fully...

Changing pinion gear bearing in a BBS02

So, I had a major malfunction with my BBS02 a month ago. I replaced the worn, secondary reduction gear and that still didn't change the issue. That being the motor not being able to run properly when using either regular pedaling, or pedal-assist. The next thing I'm about to replace would be...

Using 12v LED strips with a 52v battery.

Well, I caved and decided to just use one of my 12 volts that still had enough juice and charge capacity. Hooked up some extra LED's along the downtube and rewired a red strip LED onto the rear rack lip. Not originally what I wanted, but I'll still be able to light up the night for some time...

Using 12v LED strips with a 52v battery.

I do this as well, but as I mentioned, I'm just trying to reduce the amount of batteries carried on board.

Using 12v LED strips with a 52v battery.

These LED's work just fine when I hook them up to a regular 12v battery of any type. I'm just trying to reduce the amount of batteries carried on the bike and run everything off of the 52v/13.5AmpH pack I have for my Bafang BBS02. Only when I have them hooked to the converter, when the...

Using 12v LED strips with a 52v battery.

Does it depend on the brand of the converter? I got one of these...

Using 12v LED strips with a 52v battery.

I've been checking around and haven't found a similar thread. But I want to make sure I'm doing it right before I cut some strips up. I was about to use a 60v to 12v stepdown converter I had. But the LED strips were pulsating. So now, I'm thinking about cutting a long strip of LED down into a...

Charging your battery while on road trips.

Only a 300w? I used to have a cigarette plug 450 when I was doing over-the-road trucking. But I've long since forgotten where I put it. At the same time though, I fuel the company daycab every day so fuel points re accumulate rather easily. While the 750 is nice, I still have yet to use it and...

Charging your battery while on road trips.

Went with that 750w inverter, so we'll see what happens. Only thing I'm working out right now is a direct battery connect via some longer wires. The inverter came with some cables with alligator clips. But they're only 24".

Charging your battery while on road trips.

I've been using my Bafang BBS02-equipped, Catrike Expedition at some party rides I've been going to for the past couple of months. Typically one of these rides will see the battery go down to half capacity, more than enough to get me back to the start point. Anyways, I've been looking at doing...

Found an X-Treme Bicycles, "Alpine Trails" in a dumpster.

Yep. Definitely looking at some parts on the go-to, Luna cycles site to resurrect this find. My Catrike is my main ride, but this thing is ultimately for some other guy I know that's having trouble pedaling a normal, unpowered bike.

Found an X-Treme Bicycles, "Alpine Trails" in a dumpster.

There are many apartment units that get rented out by airmen over here. As soon as they receive new orders, many of them have to pack up whatever they can and get moved ASAP. This particular bike came without a seat and was missing the battery. But everything else on it seemed relatively intact...

Increasing range on a Bafang 750.

I pumped up all three tires on the bike to their max pressure. Took my 14-15 mile round trip ride to work and definitely noticed the same battery level indications I was getting when the motor was mounted on my single-speed. Still waiting around on that Luna Cycle watt-meter, but being able to...

Increasing range on a Bafang 750.

Well, until I get the resources together for the watt-meter and that cube 20AmpH, keeping the setting at 1-2 PAS has substantially increased the range. Also, there have been a few headwind days that strike even a low-sitting trike. Now the real test is to see how well this thing will do when...

Increasing range on a Bafang 750.

Leave it on the charger, ride it around and charge it full five times? I'll have to try that out as well. At the same time I'm looking at getting a cycleanalyst in addition to that cube, 20AmpH battery. Figure it would be nice to have an extra battery as well.

Increasing range on a Bafang 750.

I was just looking at one on the LunaCycles site and also thinking there might be some on a trip to Harbor Freight over in Lubbock. Either way this would definitely have to go onto that mounting bar I made for the C961 computer I made. I assumed the C961 that came with the kit would've had...

Increasing range on a Bafang 750.

All very good info and a watt meter will be next on the shopping list. What kind? Point me in the right direction. I've had the unit since January and have been reading up here and there about cells going out of balance. Seeing how it's been that long, this could be one of the culprits. As for...

Increasing range on a Bafang 750.

That sounds pretty efficient for sole motor use on a fat-bike. Then again, it's only pushing against a single wheel in the front and not encountering a whole lot of drag I would imagine. I'm just entranced by the massive 20-24AmpH giants on the Luna site and think about how they would be perfect...

Increasing range on a Bafang 750.

I've been riding with my Catrike Expedition with my Bafang 750 equipped for the past month. While I had the motor on my single-speed, Schwinn World Tour, I would routinely do a 15 mile roundtrip and still have a 75% capacity on the C961 display when I got home. However, the rough roads were...

what kit for the heavy rider?

I've got a Bafang 750 Mid-Drive on my Schwinn World Sport. Not too many serious hills around here and the only thing I have to deal with is wind, which is where this motor really comes in handy. Despite driving a single speed gear, I don't really experience any issues with serious over-heating...

    Bafang Error 21

I just installed my Bafang 750 on my single-speed to test it out for a bit. Got this same error, but like the previous posters stated, the motor still functioned just fine without the display up and about. In the meantime, I still have my Cateye computer mounted on the front wheel to keep an eye...

    recubent trike

I've been down in that area a few times in the past, several years. Definitely some much more, breath-taking scenery than one would get out here on the High Plains of eastern NM and west TX. As far as the motor kit I'm looking into, that Dillenger branded, Bafang 750 kit looks about as complete...

    recubent trike

That'll definitely be something to look into in the near-future should I go that route as well. For now though, I'm just going to go with the existing setup on the trike and see how well it works with the Bafang kit once I get it.
