Novox/Tisong scooter: where does the speedo signal go ?

Hi, I recently have bought a non-runner Novox C50 scooter also known as the chinese brand Tisong and replaced the SLA batteries with a fresh lithium set. This scooter has a digital dash/speedometer. Unfortunally the speedo didnt/doesnt work and after looking into the wiring it appears the wire...

JP spot-welder, FET-switched, timed adj. pulse

There could be a lot of reasons for sticking electrodes. Sticking means the electrode material is molten and has become part of the weld itself, which it isnt supposed to. Main reasons: - too little weld pressue - uneven weld pressure - contaminated electrodes - contaminated material -...

    Active pre-charge/inrush control

Okay i thought of that first also but i have a charger here which really sparks when connecting to a pack, regardless if its switched on or not when connecting the pack. So I think it matters on how many (empty) capacitors the charger really has for sparking or not. Just to be safe i think an...

    Active pre-charge/inrush control

I'm not using one of these 'chinglese' bms systems, this one is modular upto 16 modules monitoring 12 cells each (so max 192cells) and has a separate controller which communicates with the modules, display etc by using a can-bus. The pack is not permanent installed/connected into the ev/bike but...

    Active pre-charge/inrush control

And here's another change for my smartswitch concept.. I've split the control signals for the load/controller part and for the charger part of the switch. My bms controller provides two separate signals: LVC and HVC. I want to control when current is allowed to flow into the pack (charging) and...

    Active pre-charge/inrush control

Ok ,changed the schematic on this one, tested it and it works. The +12V and GND which drive the FET gates come from an isolated dc-dc converter connected to the pack by a small on-off switch. This +12V is actually fed into an AVR controller which controls the CAN-BUS BMS and triggers the FETS on...

    Active pre-charge/inrush control

I'd like to add back-to-back mosfet(s) to prevent any current in and out of the pack (for example when driving or charging). Can i simply add the additional fets to the source from the other fets and connect the pack to the 'lower' drain and the load/motor/charger to the upper drain ?

JP spot-welder, FET-switched, timed adj. pulse

I'm using this technique to create heavier busbars for my >100Amps packs. By using multiple .2x12mm or 0.2*15mm strips combined into a 1.0*12 or 1.2*15mm busbar. Since i can weld upto 2000Amps i guess using 0.3 strips would be possible also but havent tried that yet.

    JP spot welder

Ah ok I see what you mean. It's good to know that someone is looking close :-) At the video i'm using the old electrodes made of solid copper with a 2mm tip and the gap was set a bit (1mm) too far apart. I'm now using GlidCop electrodes with a 1.5mm tip and with a 2mm gap so there's more room...

    JP spot welder

Hi there, Where did you see that ? There's no spot missed on the welding apart from the one already done :-) The sparks you see just means that the APC (Automatic Part Conditioning ) of the MacGregor welder is triggering. This APC is an extra control just before every weld is made to see of...

    JP spot welder

I have design here of a spot welder made of 24 caps 47000uF/16V. They are grouped in 3 and triggered by two IRFB7430 FETs in parallel. All 8 groups are then connected in parallel and the MOSFETS are all triggered in parallel by just a 12V signal. Theres no timer involved just one shot until the...

What's Better? Use up more Ah's or Charge more often?

I would say charge more often. You get more cycles out of lithium by not depleting it completely. Hence Tesla and alike prevent over and under charging of their li-ion cells.

    JP spot welder

Hi all, I need to use capacitors instead of a car battery for the JP welder. Reason is that i'm going to use the JP welder on a CNC based system modified for spotwelding. To prevent long cables (this system has 90cm X-travel and 40cm Y-travel) i'm going to mount the JP welder with welding tips...

Building my next pack 12S72P (with 36P modules)

Changed the design a bit. Decided to lay the cells flat so all weight is just on the brackets and not on the stacked cells. Cells are 'cornered' with PVC profiles, every module needs to get shrink-wrapped and then 4 modules will be fitted into one batterybox, This set of 4 is going into one...

Building my next pack 12S72P (with 36P modules)

Yes i've changed things from the previous build. Space was the biggest consideration with the Vectrix so i couldnt use the cell brackets im using now but had to glue the cells together. For the busbars i've also looked at different solutions then. Using solid copper 16mm2 busbars with the...

Building my next pack 12S72P (with 36P modules)

Ok, according to my calculations my modules are still cheaper then standard/COTS available LiFePo batteries. I pay about €2,40 per Samsung 29E cell of 2,850mAh. So a module with 36 cells/102Ah is costing me €86,40 per module.Add some €20 for nickel and brackets and thats it. Comparable...

Building my next pack 12S72P (with 36P modules)

These 'brackets' are pre-fabricated before welding them to the pack of cells. Each section of 6 cells is connected by two busbars, one on each side, of 10*0.2mm. So 6 busbars tacked together into one on each side, 12 in total, with a total diameter of 24mm2, good enough upto 240Amps..or...

Building my next pack 12S72P (with 36P modules)

I have one Basic version with the Thrige Titan motor on 36V (this one is going to the Li-ioned...) and one Fact4 version with the Perm132 motor on 48V. Both still have their original Curtis controllers and HF chargers. For the Fact4 im thinking of converting sometime to 72V with an OpenRevolt...

Building my next pack 12S72P (with 36P modules)

Hi all, I'd like to present my next battery building project which consists of a modular pack having modules each having 36P cells. The cells i'm using are Samsung 29E, each 2850mAh. So each module will be 3.7V/102Ah. I previously did build a pack with the same cells for my Vectrix electric...

    JP spot welder

I did receive my welder last week and managed to do some test welds on some old batteries and nickel strip. IT WORKS GREAT !! Now i'm waiting for my nickel strip to arrive so i can do bulk welding (1080pcs of 18650) Would it be possible to use some capacitors like the Zeva spotwelder...

I'm creating an 36S30P pack of Samsung INR18650-29E for my Vectrix VX1 motorscooter. For extra protection a drew up this in Illustrator and cut some black sticker material in the sign cutter.
