10S custom skate ESC: testers wanted!

Oops, forgot to subscribe to this thread. You can indeed flash the new firmware through USB using the BLDC tool with-out ST-link If however you are unable to flash it using USB, I can provide you a in depth tutorial on how to flash it from a Windows machine (Just PM me for info) using ST-Link...

Any tips for VESC with standard RC transmitter / PPM ?

No problem whatsoever, Benj. Glad to see you happy with the VESC! If you could post a small review (Maybe including a picture or two) of your VESC manufactured by us on my sales thread I'd be eternally thankful (https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69942&start=25) Best...

10S custom skate ESC: testers wanted!

Furp, if you've purchased a VESC from me, you can use this BLDC tool (for windows): http://ampcite.com/downloads/ and the firmware 1.10 that you can flash using ST-Link You don't need any battery connection if flashing through ST-Link. Also, Current mode works that way until you put some load...

Okp: Make sure you tick "Send status over CAN" Also, can you take a picture of the CAN connection? Regards EDIT: Seems like you've solved your problem :) Round the values to the nearest integer (4.55 -> 5) Regards

10S custom skate ESC: testers wanted!

1.8 - 1.10 had mostly changes made for the open source remote that Vedder is building (NRF). No significant changes were made besides that: 1.10: Nunchuk speed control glitch fix 1.9: NRF updates, better servo output support 1.8: NRF fix You can either upgrade the firmware (You'll have to...

Open Source Arduino transmitter/receiver for (V)ESC

I love how we both went with very similar ideas when making our transmitters (I haven't seen this thread yet) Definitely following this!

VESC BLDC Tool for Windows [Download]

Not taking any credit, took a few minutes to do but saves a lot of time for many of us ^^ The VESC has been the #1 since it was released imho

VESC BLDC Tool for Windows [Download]

I've compiled the BLDC tool for those that want to use it on Windows. It's been tested on Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 10, I'm not sure about Windows 7/Vista/XP so feedback is welcome. The download includes all the major BLDC Tool releases for firmwares 1.5-1.8, 1.9 and 1.9-1.10...

10S custom skate ESC: testers wanted!

Okp, first of all I'd like to apologize for not informing you how to solder the capacitor correctly, it appears to be soldered backwards. Here is a link to the capacitor that is included with every VESC...

Any tips for VESC with standard RC transmitter / PPM ?

Noted, thanks for the tips. I'll do a in-depth guide in the future I thought that the automatic detection was meant for hall-effect sensored motors but I clearly was wrong. All my VESCs shipped out with the Turnigy SK3 settings pre-loaded Regards

Any tips for VESC with standard RC transmitter / PPM ?

Benj, what mode are you running your VESC in? Current, RPM, ..? If it's in current control mode then it's normal for the motor to spin up to 100% when not under load. Also, play around with the 'with reverse' and 'with brake without reverse' settings.

Using a mosfet as a switch?

Another thing that you might want to consider is not turning the board off at all. I once left my board on for two weeks by accident, when I came back home I still had 85% of the original battery capacity. 6S 10Ah with a VESC Just a thought :) Regards

DIY Stealthy Longboard Build Log (Integrated batteries)

I'm back with some progress! Lets head right into it: Because my previous routed deck was too thin and eventually cracked, I have decided to reduce the amount of batteries from 18 to 12 (10A 6S). It's a compromise I had to make to have a stealthy longboard that is structurally strong. I have...

DIY Stealthy Longboard Build Log (Integrated batteries)

@stuartstardust I'm already using an arduino and a 2.4ghz module, I wanted something different that just a nunchuck. I'll be printing an enclosure for my remote soon @bandaro, stuartstardust You guys are probably right. I have no clue how thick fiberglass is or how much I need to use. I'll try...

DIY Stealthy Longboard Build Log (Integrated batteries)

Change of plans again! In order to keep my costs low I've decided to coat the deck (and permanently seal the batteries) with glass fiber My plan is to coat both sides with 12 layers of 200gsm glass fiber, hopefully giving my deck enough rigidity I've ordered the required resin and glass fiber...

Question about capacity vs drain voltage

You are correct: On the same setup a 6S 5000mAh would have double the range of a 3S 5000mAh while riding at the same speeds. A motor running at 6S might require 10A to go 10km/h but it will require double that current at half the voltage (3S) to achieve the same speed. Look at Amps as if they...

thoughts on cheapest diy commuter electric skateboard trike?

You have to keep in mind that a tri wheel longboard would be more expensive in the long run, here's why: Need to purchase an additional wheel, make a custom mount for it and attach a motor, probably use pulleys/belts to reduce/increase RPM. Things will break, as always with prototypes, so factor...

thoughts on cheapest diy commuter electric skateboard trike?

I'm afraid that a cordless drill will not be enough to power you through 10km. My board features 15A capacity at 25V, this is enough to drive me ~30km. A 18v 2AH cordless drill has almost 10 times less battery capacity. In my opinion it would still be the cheapest to use the more common build...

How to get 8S/33v down to 12v?

The cheapest and easiest way in my opinion would be a DC-DC boost converter http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10A-DC-DC-600W-10-60V-to-12-80V-Boost-Converter-Power-Supply-/171621349446?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27f56df846 There are smaller, less powerful converters around as well Regards EDIT...

DIY Stealthy Longboard Build Log (Integrated batteries)

I see, I might be wrong then I have another exciting story to tell; The ESC has shown it's magic smoke an hour ago... While I was testing the brakes at 4A current limited supply, the speedcontroller suddenly went *poof*. My desk filled with smoke and a quite familiar smell: Burnt ICs. There...
