    My first build

You might think about a child carrying trailer. It would be safer.

    Coaster brake bike

See if he feels better by drinking some tart cherry juice daily- the stuff is a natural remedy for Arthur. My 95 YO mother in law says as long as she drinks it her hands feel OK. About a coaster brake bike- at any speed over the typical use of a pedaller, it becomes a big safety issue. You...

How many miles do you put on your eBike per month?

The ebike is a toy for me, having scaled down from larger ones (no DMV to have to deal with, inspections, storage, etc). More of an exercise machine with a cherry on top. Now on my rides, I can at least keep up with chubby girls on mountain bikes. About 100 miles a month in decent weather...

    I keep having flat tires

As a post script- today I pulled the other tire off and inspected the heavy tube to find fretting along where the edge of the liner went- so this confirms that the tube has a concentration of stress there- I pulled the liner out.

China needs more e-bikes, not cars

It doesn't snow in China? A lot of people live where it is impossible to ride a bike all year. One shoe just doesn't fit everyone- regardless of Carbon lies, govt propaganda and wishful thinking. Try riding an ebike in Buffalo a month or 2 ago. Come to think about it, the whole East didn't...

    I keep having flat tires

I put thorn resistant tubes and tire lines on my pedal bike about 3 year ago. Walked home with a flat back tire today and was very curious to see what happened- the heavy tube had marks and a leak right where the edge of the liner was- this was not across the tire where the liner overlaps, but...

What is the demographic for eBikers?

Living in a liberal paradise, anything with motor has to be registered, so I see no ebikes here in Buffalo, other than my concoction. It's strange, in NYC ebikes are all over the place- even ebike stores. Maybe the police have more important things to do down there. I'm 69, weigh 140 and...

    A low end tinkerers' concoction- 300w 26mph

I came across Naeem's thread a week ago here, and I recalled seeing a pic of him years back, maybe on Motoredbikes.com, what a terrific guy, his story and his attitude is remarkable and I do pray for him, that he and his family are protected and have victory. Mike

How to achieve a reliable high power mid drive.

I found the same principle applied (more rpm= less stress on components) to using the Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub as a jack shaft, even in my gas bike (Huffy/ moped). People have reported toasting them under engine power when used in the rear wheel. But those tiny internal gears hold up fine...

    A low end tinkerers' concoction- 300w 26mph

That was funny Hillhater, the seat height was fine for my 30 inch inseam legs until I wanted a suspension post. The easiest way to use it was to put another one behind the stock tube (hey- what's another pound on the old beast?). When I made bike #2 (don't tell anyone about the thing being gas...

    A low end tinkerers' concoction- 300w 26mph

Thanks T, not much planned, I have a Frankenstein Huffy (registered as a moped) with a HF 212cc in it, to play with also (downsized toys from cars and motorcycles) along with some small tractors. Initially I figured if it didn't work out, the batteries can always go into the tractors, but I...

    A low end tinkerers' concoction- 300w 26mph

Hi all, this is my first post on ES. This bike went from an e-experiment to gas/electric, to straight gas, now back to electric with 22ah SLAs. It has a 26' Huffy frame, 24' wheels, Unite motor driving a 3speed SA hub (left over from the gas powered deal) down to the left side of the back wheel...
