    CYC X1 Gen 2 5000W

I have the gen 1 controller (14s 70a) , factory stock settings everything. It'll push 55a in my second-to-last gear (12t). Haven't tried to see what it could do in the 11t, maybe it'll go for 70a, I don't know. I'm satisfied with 45mph on that thing, don't need any more.

    CYC X1 Gen 2 5000W

Well, that sucks to hear ab the shortcomings of the x1 pro. I haven't had the chance to push my gen 1 over 14s 70a yet, so I think I'll keep it there. The hardest I push it seems to be around 55 amps @ 55v , which holds 45mph on the bike. But that's only for <60 sec runs. Most of my riding on it...

Holding your pants and your battery...

Shopped a few places, actually. Harbor Freight, Lowes, Home Depot, Ace, ... Couldn't find any of the smaller endless loop types at a store. They were all enormous and have hooks, or were a perfect size, but didn't have a ratchet system.

Holding your pants and your battery...

I've been using endless loop ratchet straps on my builds, since I transfer 2 batteries between 3 ebikes all the time. The ratchet is a little bulky, but very effective at getting anything attached to anything. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=102372 Got them on amazon...

YALU New BBS-Style mid drive kit with external controler

Okay, now this looks cool. It's like they took a cyclone motor and attached a bbshd style planetary to it. We def need to see what those gears look like. It also seems more serviceable than the bbshd, in terms of adding grease.

Thread for new battery breakthrough PR releases

New anode tech: coat a porous silicon anode in alumina, then let the alumina saturate with lithium. It becomes a protective catalyst layer for the cathode, and keeps max capacity stable over 100's of cycles. So, not only do we get a decent jump in capacity, but cycle life as well...

Thread for new battery breakthrough PR releases

New little breakthrough in preventing oxygen release from reacting with electrolytes, involving a molten salt treatment to the Li-rich cathode. https://techxplore.com/news/2020-01-gradient-li-rich-oxide-cathode-particles.html

    Huffy Mayhem | Cyclone 3000 | 14s 30a

I had the idler on when I first built it. But, my 14/44T motor -> crank gearing combo made a perfect, tight enough fit for a 410 chain, so I removed it. After a few good rides on the beach and the off-roading back in there, the chain has loosened up a bit. But, it seems to stay inline where it...

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

Any info about this motor can be found here: https://www.cycmotor.com/x1-pro Yes, people were doing this before the stock controller was released with the kit. ASI and some others.

    Raleigh Route | BBSHD | 14s7p 35E

The number of ebikes one should own is always n+1. And, a bike with no motor on it is just waiting for one. Plus, I needed to build an alternative to my hi-racer bacchetta, which was my cardio ebike for a while. Problem is, the speeds I like to ride at make regular bumps cause a fair amount of...

    Raleigh Redux | X1 Pro | 14s7p 35E

Some bumpy shaky video I took in the neighborhood. Got it up to 38mph, but I've seen 43 in other places, on only 2500w. q1W-qFRSYrk

Do you run across overly competitive/aggressive cyclists?

Yep, had a kitted guy riding a fat tire bike pulling 28mph with me, for a good quarter mile down the trail one day. Lol, that was some serious output, man. And I get the whole spectrum of sneers, blank faces, and people cracking up when I roll past them saying that I'm sorry for cheating...

    GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

Okay, I figured it out: Hook up the throttle, and when you want to change gears, you want to quickly push the throttle to WOT, then let off, while at the same exact time you click the shifter. This will let off the power while pedaling and re-engage at just the right time, after the chain...

What are some good 3000W hub motors for 26 inch rims?

That does actually sound like a better option than voltage control. You won't have to deathgrip the throttle when going over bumps, as you try to keep it in the same exact position without sending huge power spikes from small adjustments. Seems safer, too, to a newb, who doesn't expect the...

What are some good 3000W hub motors for 26 inch rims?

First off, does that sweet mtb have a 9mm QR , or a 12x142 thru axle? A 9mm QR with vertical dropouts is what you need, using two torque arms on each side. Be careful of going big on the phase amps on a 3000w motor. The frame will not like it at all, unless you engineer clamping dropouts like...

You can find a 6T 35mm aluminum stator 1500w at WCEC. It has around a 7.7~8 Kv.

Feedback and thoughts on my electrification plans please

+1 on EM3ev. I (will) have two of their 14s7p hardcase rectangle packs with the Smart BMS.

Do you prefer freewheel or cassettte for your hub motor?

If I had a low powered hub motor, where I can use all of the gears on a multi-speed cluster, then I'd opt for a cassette version, if available. I fried the DNP 11-34T 7spd FW on my fast hub motor bike (impossible to pedal on human power). I replaced it with this 12T single speed offset...

    ebike laws with trike build

Oh dear, hahaha. I very gradually tested this bike in incremental steps before ever riding like that. If the road is too rough for a hardtail, then I shouldn't be going that fast anyways. It keeps me in check for the right reasons. Florida has the best road conditions in the whole nation. I know...

    Scott CR1 | X1 Pro | 14s 45a

So sorry man, I took it apart to build this one! But, since I have built and currently use both mid drive systems, I can be of help anyways. I do not have the torque sensing bb yet. My 2 cents on the two kits in their current form on the market: The cyclone 3000: - about $200 cheaper, even...

Two identical batteries in parallel on the same bike

Awesome, thanks guys. It sounds like there won't be any issues if I keep them in parallel for all charge/discharge cycles. The BMS has a 12a charge current limit through the XT90 discharge port. And I don't see myself using one of the packs by itself after the upgrade. This should be interesting...

    ebike laws with trike build

I live in central florida. I have passed a cop at 50 mph in traffic on my 5kw mtb. He pulled up behind me in stopped traffic, and asked what endorsements I needed for the bike. This is the only cop in 12,000 miles of riding to ask me any questions. I told him, 'from what I understand, a valid...

Two identical batteries in parallel on the same bike

Someone asked a question about charging 2 batteries with one charger,. It prompted me to ask a similar question, but with other specifics. I can build bikes, but I'm a bit electro-dumb. I have the EM3ev 14s7p hardcase rectangle pack. It has ~70 cycles on it. Just bought a second one, exactly...
