Making range extender for a brose motor?

I have a bulls evo with a brose motor and a 650wh battery. It is enough capacity for 99% of my riding, but I am looking to try a 90 mile off road ride where I could use more range. I previously designed a holder to use two milwaukee 18v batteries for an diy road bike project. I would like to...

    Review: bulls e-stream/brose/crazy lenny's

Very few times does a product over deliver this much! Background: I built a 3D printed kepler drive roadbike and climbed mt. washington with it. Great for a road bike, but not a sophisticated enough control system for technical single track riding. The riding I do is very rocky, see a video...

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

The switched is hooked up to the ADC, 3.3v and ground pin on the VESC. low switch position uses a voltage divider to supply ~1.5v to the ADC pin for half throttle, high switch position sends the nominal 3.3v to the ADC pin. I have it set now that high is ~400w, and low is ~200w. 200w is...

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

I have finished the 3D printed design of the VESC-X, high/off/low switch, and battery bracket parts. The bracket mounts to bottle boss holes, and allows the use of any size milwaukee M18 batteries, from 2AH to 9AH. Batteries just slide in and lock just like a normal power tool, and are no...

ah I misunderstood, you aren't trying to use a drone motor with the friction drive.

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

I am running the packs in series, for 36v nominal. I am printing an enclosure for the vesc-x , mounted under the bottom bracket. Fitment is difficult since it is an areo frame with high aspect ratios. The drive disengagment was a mechanical issue actually. I needed to rotate the bottom bracket...

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

I have done a couple more rides on the prototype brackets. Noise, weight, and performance are all fantastic. Now that I am happy with the performance I am working on refining the setup on my bike. I drew up a dual battery mount in solidworks and 3D printed a prototype. it uses milwaukee M18...

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

Hi Kepler, I got the throttle issue sorted- I needed a 4k resistor between the ADC pin and ground pin to pull the ADC back to 0v when the switch is shut off. I took my first ride today, and it was fantastic! I am running the VESC-X set at 5 amp battery limit (right at 200W max), and it seems...

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

This throttle is still giving me fits. I wired up the simple on/off switch as such The problem is that the ADC voltage reading with the switch off is erratic, bouncing from 0-2.5+ volts. When the switch is on it is bouncing between 3.1 and 3.3, but when I turn the switch off the motor does...

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

I think this is close to what we need, but I am way over my head on the software explanations. http://vedder.se/2015/08/vesc-writing-custom-applications/

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

I've run into a snag getting the throttle to work. I am using a simple servo tester to provide input to the VESC. I want to combine the servo tester and a handlebar switch to provide either 0 or 100% throttle signal...

the 40v battery works better, should be able to have assist up to 25mph now. A couple IR images I took of the system after running ~10 mins in still air. No thermal issues at such a low power level.

Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

Not sure if I should start a new thread, but wanted to share my progress so far with one of Kepler's prototype brackets. Please keep in mind I am a mechanical engineer, with very limited electrical experience! Anything electrical related that I have done may be wrong and should be questioned...

I was amazing at the difference in sound the foc control made in vedders videos. I am going to order the vesc at the link below, what do you think kepler? https://www.vandaelectronics.com/products/vesc-motor-controller-custom-cables-and-connectors

Hi Kelper, Can I get on the list to buy a set when they are available? I sent you a PM, but would email be preferred?
