RTIII wrote: "Watts is volts times amps, so the "15A 48v" system is already 720, and the 18A version crosses the line with 864. Given that a "48v" battery is typically charged to 54.5v or thereabouts, and, at least on my own 13s4p pack, is still typically above 52v (at rest) when 25% to 1/3...

No answer using search. Is there a recommended lube interval for the TDSZ2 with nylon gear? I have over 2k miles on mine. Have never had cover off.

bergerandfries, My Luna charger has settings of 80%, 90%, and 100%. At the 80% setting I'm lucky that I get 55.4 volts. If I use 90 or 100 bergerandfries, I'm lucky that my Luna charger set and 80% shuts off at 55.4 volts. If I use 90 or 100% settings I have to discharge the battery...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

My 48V TDSZ2 (2 years old) starts at 55.4 volts. May not if above that. I have a 52V battery and charge it to 80% to get 55.4V at the battery. Bad: I don't get to use the 55.4 to 58.4 capability of the battery. Good: it forces me to operate in the 50% to 80% of the battery capability...

The "Hot Dogs" have already gotten E-FatBikes banned from Ft Myers Beach, FL. Were cruising through the crowds on the beach, and up and down the sidewalks at full speed. City Council banned by 5-1 vote. When the Rental business owner complained the response of a Councilman was "too bad"...

My NuVinci can easily be shifted when power is off on my TSDZ2- 15A/500W. Power on even in Eco mode I have to ease up on the pedals to shift it. With my 52V battery charged to 55 volts, Turbo mode, and my max input on a 10% hill my power meter read a high of 14.5 amps and 760 Watts. It's a...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

My 48V TSDZ2 will not start with my 52V battery fully charges. It starts at 55.6 or below. I have the nylon gear and have pulled 760 watts on a 10% grade. Nearing 1500 miles on my motor and no problems with my nylon gear. I have an N-360 rear hub and always shift down to start. Has anyone...

crazy, I get the same "rumble" in the feet with slow easy pedaling. If I am where congestion will cause it for a period of time I switch the power to off (ran into that riding with a dozen trikes in a parade Saturday - lots of start - slow - stop - repeat). I have no resistance with the...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Mine had that problem. Turned out that the controller in my 48V system had a high voltage limit that kept it from using my fully charged 52V battery (58 volts ) . Discharging to 55.5 volts enabled the motor to work. That luckily happens to be the charge I get from the 80% setting on my Luna...

Not all zip ties are created equal. My battery is hung from the top of the seat frame using very heavy nylon zip ties and no problems in 8 months of use. Stainless steel zip ties are also available. May install a couple of those as I have had zip ties fail after a couple of years exposure to UV.

tomjasz, on the first page go about 2/3 down the list to: Dragonfly the Wild One On the next page it will be the second entry. You have to click on date. Not completely logical, but that's the way the site works.

RTIII, I added photos of the Wild One with TDSZ2 installed at mytripjournal.com/itchyfeet. It's the Dec 26 entry. Been trying to get the site software to work correctly for a week. Finally just referenced some of the photos instead of embedding them in the text. The battery mount method...

RTIII: Wild One (named Dragonfly) photos are on my photo website: www.mytripjournal.com/itchyfeet . Bought it for my wife, after she test rode one. Unfortunately, during the 6 months from order to receipt she lost the capability to get out of the low seat but can ride my old Rover after I...

RTIII, LBS=Local Bike Shop. Thanks for the details on power levels. I was certain there had to be some Chinese "guesstimates" involved in the design of the electronics. I'm also sure there will be motor to motor variations as I would be surprised to find any precision electronic components...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

erian, Why would you put an electric assist on a racing bike? A TDSZ2 system with a large battery could nearly double the weight. The bike would NEVER have racing bike characteristics again. In my view a hybrid type bike, with suspension, would be a better choice. The assist will compensate...

Have a 500 watt/48Volt TSDZ2 on a Steintrike Wild One - NuVinci hub on a 26" wheel. My battery is an 11.5 amp-52 Volt Panasonic from Luna which I charge to 80% giving me 55.57 Volts, using their charger. 4 levels of torque assist, which work very well for my riding. With all the "just in case"...

Waynemarlow postulated: "Perhaps the unit checks to see if there's a sensor inline on power up, if not it ignores it," If this is true then this would also bypass any controller checks to limit the speed of the trike. My 500W 15A TSDZ2 easily gets me to 20mph at level 3 boost but I'm also...

Interested in the power cut off when the wheel magnet is out of position. I don't have a sensor cable at all and my TSDZ2 works fine and never have had a power cut out. Is there some other signal, other than speed, that is talking to the controller when you have a sensor cable present? I...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

The 52V battery is a poor choice for the 15A version of the TDSZ2. Assuming the max charge for each cell to be 4.2V and the performance cliff voltage to be 3.35 a 13 cell 48V battery will have a fully charged voltage of 56.6. Full charge on my 52V battery is 58.8, BUT my 15A TDSZ2 will not...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Motor is standard TSDZ2 48V 500W. XH18 controller. No throttle, only torque sensor. At levels 3 & 4 it seems to have dirty electronics. My wireless bike computer reading drops to 2 mph, or even zero, when I switch to those levels on a hill, so my distance measurement could be off. Even if...

    Running the latest 48v 500W TSDZ2 engine on 52volts ?

Bought a Luna 52v Panasonic battery for my 48v TDSZ2, charged to 100% and wouldn't work. Hooked to my George Forman grill and discharged to 54.0 v . Several hours later went to ride and my power analyzer read 55.73; apparently regained after load removed. Tried the motor with little hope and...
