Geared Hub rotor standalone as a Mid drive

Hello Forum, I want to build a mid drive style project but keeping it as simple, light and efficient as possible (who doesn't right?) So, what I want to try is to use the rotor and stator of a 500-1000 watts hub motor (MAC style), by removing it's freewheel planetary gears and side sideplates...

Optimal Hub Motor design? Break down of BionX D-Series

Hello, did you get this one second hand on an ebay auction, having a faulty controller? If so, do you have the faulty controller right? is there any way you could diagnose that faulty controller, I mean is there any sign of a short, a burnt device or anything? Around the web I have come across...

Optimal Hub Motor design? Break down of BionX D-Series

This is a very cool motor. Madin88, do you know how much of airgap there is between magnets and slots? is it noticeably bigger than on the average DD hub? for sure it was a challeng to design a composite frame to keep all that force bounded.

OK, a little gas every now and then, when no one is watching

Tesla should but a bunch of capabuses and bus stop/charging stations to take their employees to and from the city  https://youtu.be/LYL6NyU1g3k

    Seeking advice on e-bike selection

Hi everyone, I was wondering what about electric scooters? You mentioned that you had no cycle parking space, you don't want to get sweaty at all, and don't want to spend much on it...

Analysis of regen on an ebike

Hello! thanks, I wasn't aware of your simulator, it's really neat indeed. Actually I was doing some calculations on a spreadsheet but this saved me lots of time. Now let me tell you, that I wasn't trying to mimic a normal ebike, I was trying to boost my leg power, hence I used ebike parts as it...

Ebike Build around Supercapacitors for Regen Purposes

Yes, those factors did neglect the advantages. However I wasn't trying to build a traditional ebike, I was trying to boost the leg power on a bike, using most components ebike use, a power supply (a supercap module in this case), a DD motor and the electronics an ebike uses.

Ebike Build around Supercapacitors for Regen Purposes

I think that proposal will be healthier for the battery, however the space and the weight to store an extra power supply + the electronics needed to switch between the SC bank and the battery may be too much. Cars have similar systems but as I said, cars are totally different beasts that weight...

Ebike Build around Supercapacitors for Regen Purposes

Thank you, I can share more info with you on the topic. Can you explain me what do you want a supercap to your system?

Analysis of regen on an ebike

please take a look at my post on my supercap build https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=90197 I need to get my hands on a geared motor and start playing with it just like that guy who welded his to avoid the ratchet mechanism. :D

Ebike Build around Supercapacitors for Regen Purposes

Hello Guys, I wanted to share with you my first ebike build. Basically what I was trying to do was to show Supercapacitors characteristics and their efficiency along Regen. My build is based on: -A 17 F 48 V Maxwell Technologies Supercap module (aproximately 5.44 Wh) -A kelly controller rated...

How much regen power is possible?

A simple way of building a generator? out of a bike? a Stationary bike? a bike going downhill? if you are going to have a variable source of mechanical energy such as wind a BLDC direct drive motor (such as the ones on ebikes) is an expensive choice, a cheaper choice would be an induction...

Analysis of regen on an ebike

I think that when we are expecting high numbers on Regen we are being kind of unfair agains this hubmotors when we expect efficiencies around the 70-80%. We are told by manufacturers of Ebikes and hub motors that efficiencies are in the 80% region... however if you look closely into the motor's...
