    Sturmey-Archer 5-speed hub, it's real!

Hey guys, I have a Sturmey Archer rx-rk5 hub. Bought new, but it does not run very smooth; the gear change is good but when pedalling backwards (it's a disk hub) instead of a nice and smooth feel it's quite gritty and it stops the wheel (eventually). Is this a normal behaviour? Or should I check...

Ebike issues - strange and unseen

Well...After really careful packing and isolating... It's WORSE than before. I will go to the Hall-less section. It's really embarassing and time consuming - I'm a bloody telcom engineer, I'm not an artist or poet. I repaired Renaults and Alfas and a f00k!n chinese controller toyes with me like...

Ebike issues - strange and unseen

Hey guys Been away for a while, work is really demanding these days. Anyway - before closing the motor should I do something else (apart from better isulation/fixation of the Hall sensors)? Maybe I sound like a baby, but after a certain level I am quite noob in regard with these kits.

Ok,I'll recreate the isolation and come back. Hopefully there will be good news.

Yup. One magnet and a half. Precisely one magnet and a half. So...What does that mean?

Roger. But in this case I believe it's easier to just try other combination with the wires? I am not that good at being careful at 52slots/51 magnets.  Also, the pic with them in position. The leftmost one sticks a bit outside but once fixed with the isulator tape stays completly...

Ebike issues - strange and unseen

I have 51 magnets and 52 slots. For the Hall sensors only 3 slots with dedicated shape (no way to stick them elsewere). No scratches on the hall sensors/legs - only the leftmost one has scratches because I had to force it a bit inside (not so much becase I feared braking the legs). The legs are...

Ok guys, back from work and on to dissasembly. Checked again the hall sensors: https://youtu.be/NtURuHe1jJ0 This is exactly how my hall sensors look at the moment: I did my best to isulate them with motor silicone and taped them to the stator using isolating tape. You can see that they have...

Roger that. Please allow me some time to open (for the 5th time in half a year) my motor. Will post pictures and videos before doing anything else. Just allow me a couple of hours, I am "enjoying" an engineers Monday. Thanks guys!

They were in their slots and I extracted them quite hard (some had to be scrubbed out). I have the exact set up as below, will open my motor again in a couple of days. I see that you suspect a bad logic in my soldering rather than a short in the wires? I'm asking this because rewiring the motor...

Ebike issues - strange and unseen

Yeah... Sadly you are right. I did not add anything and soldered the new hall sensors in the exact position with the exact pin numbering/positioning. I will try to remove the wires and add new ones. Basically remove the wires from the hall sensors to the plug - if all, this might be the...

Ebike issues - strange and unseen

Hello again... Ok,will do that. If so, what should I do? Should I inverse the hall sensor wires? I don't understand why this hapened as I replaced all 3 hall sensors with corresponding parts. And what is the link with the busted controller? These kits and their electronics are mental!

Ebike issues - strange and unseen

I will try to do this, hopefully I will not destroy anything... Did some more troubleshooting, all seems ok, except for the shuddered start once in 4-5 starts. Also, the power indicator in the display is always quite low (I am always expecting 300-400w on the power meter but it does not jump...

Ebike issues - strange and unseen

Hi everyone! Buyed another controller and all is not ok. So when I throttle from 0 the motor starts-shudders-starts again and goes ok. What can be the issue of this behaviour- a shuddered start. Maybe wrong phase allignment? So basically a tester is gold if you are a self-doer.

Excellent! So basically I am ok, parts should be compatible?

Parts compatibility for rat rod build

Hi guys, I narrowed down my parts list. Since it will be a rat rot, I need to keep it really clean, this means a hub motor on the back with basic pedalling sensor. The controller+display+PAS...

Hi larsb, I tested the halls in the motor, they flicker normally. If you move slow, they flicker in the correct order, slowly. Fast - same, but faster. I will post all the tests later today, I am at work now. Nonethenless, many thanks, I think when spring will come I will be able to ride my...

Ebike issues - strange and unseen

Hi guys, I bought the tester and when testing the controller (so hall sensor connected output and all 3phases clipped to the controller) I get the below thing. Basically the lights flash as can be seen - then they stop, even if the throttle is opened fully. Confirmation that I need a new...

Sooo... ATF not good because it weighs a lot? And also - what is a kelly controller?

Parts compatibility for rat rod build

While waiting for controller/hall sensor tester in order to troubleshoot my electric fat cruiser, I am starting my list for a board tracker replica. As I already have a 48V/12Ah battery/charger which is quite strong, I want to use this base as a build start. 1. For an average 36V250W motor...

Controller looks very similar with mine - mine is a bit shorter. I can count the number of transistors if that helps.
