    Buick Lacrosse 2012 e-assist moto-alternator

I'm planning to pick up one of the eTorque 48v belted motor/generator/alternator units from a new Ram pickup in the next couple months to mess with. I'm thinking these are likely just looking for CAN messages for control of the integrated inverter. My personal goal would be to get it spinning...

    Classis Vespa Smallframe to EV

I was midway through converting a honda throttle body and TPS for use on my motorcycle when I found this from Eastgem. Pretty sure it's the same as a Mobipus part. http://www.eastgem.net/throttle-adapter.html I'm much rather run something like that (or a cut down throttle body) than mess...

2WD trike pulling left when accelerating

I think they were getting at implementing some form of torque vectoring. I already have an Arduino running the speed controllers (brushed RC car parts) in my daughter's power wheels, so that idea has been bouncing around my mind as well.

2WD trike pulling left when accelerating

Wait, you can reflash these things now?!? I feel like pure current mode would be a lot better for my application anyways. Does the controller still have the "soft start", or will they pretty much go full blast from the start?

    Best controller?

That last bit has me pretty bummed out, I didn't know about that until after I bought both of my KLS7230S's. Overspeed/flux weakening would allow me to gear my motorcycle a bit lower without losing top speed. Or just leave the gearing the same and go 90mph, lol. Oh well, it got pushed back to...

    Kelly kls7230s- speed restriction?

The Adaptto has field weakening, right? As far as I know the Kelly's do not (and if they do, it's baked into their normal motor control and never mentioned in any of their documentation). It's possible that you're just hitting the limit of Kv * Voltage on the Kelly, and it won't go any faster...

    First post, electric motorcycle build.

The current plan is to fold them over and screw them down to the bus-plates. I'm also considering folding them over and clamping them down with a second plate. Edit: Actually I'm 90% sure I got the plate/slot idea after watching a video of you building a pack. So thank you for that, lol. My...

I did have the resistor in place. And I'd assume I should get continuity between positive and negative at least, right? I don't have the hall board exposed yet, I need to pull the can off for that.

It wasn't actually random, but after getting absolutely nothing when connecting power/gnd to red and black, as well as getting no continuity across basically anything, it led me to believe that the wiring is no bueno. I had also tried a few combinations mentioned when other people had miswired...

    First post, electric motorcycle build.

I was following these instructions: https://electricbike.com/forum/forum/knowledge-base/general-aa/39891-hall-sensor-testing-without-using-a-motor-controller I freely admit that my testing methodology could have been bad, and I currently have no idea what the actual pinout is, but just by...

Updates: Good news: Comms with the android app over bluetooth work awesome. It's possible that either my USB-RS232 adapter sucks, or the 4-pin to DB9 adapters kelly provides suck. Either way, I can reliably read/write to the thing, so that's cool. Have the blown up controller back together...

Kelly KLS7230S Identification angel operation function

Yeah, I was trying this yesterday with a bunch of wiring combinations. I think the wiring on my halls are completely wrong, or they don't work at all.

Kelly KLS7230S Identification angel operation function

No dice. Gonna take it apart to check the hall sensor board, but most likely I'll end up adding some new/better/working sensors.

Kelly KLS7230S Identification angel operation function

Hopefully I can get my test bench set up again today to try a few more things myself. I just want to know this motor/controller combo is going to work so I can keep working on my bike.

Kelly KLS7230S Identification angel operation function

The halls might want more voltage then. I'll take a stab at it tomorrow. Edit: I haven't tested the wiring this way, but people have received Alien Power motors with really wacky hall wiring. Quote below is from the VESC forums. https://vesc-project.com/node/360 Another possibility:

Kelly KLS7230S Identification angel operation function

Oh hey, I'm having the exact same experience. You might even have the same motor that I do (FRC Hobby 120100 50kv sensored outrunner, which are the same as the Alien Power Systems and Epowerhobby outrunners). Clicks and "bumps" 7 or 8 times, then just sits there laughing at you until you...

    First post, electric motorcycle build.

Didn't get to work on my accord because it was pouring, so I spent a couple hours trying to get my non-blown-up controller to talk to the motor. Bolted together a quick and dirty 7s pack of bus lipo's, and actually wired this controller properly this time. Was able to establish (flaky as hell)...

    First post, electric motorcycle build.

I was thinking about using some aluminum tape between the cells, but honestly between the crazy high ratings on these cells (that I'm only using 2/3 to 3/4 of), along with fairly neurotic monitoring (all cell group voltages, a couple temp probes at various points in the pack, clear battery...

    First post, electric motorcycle build.

Did some re-working on the battery pack, and more or less sorted out the case that's going around it. The model looks a bit messy because I didn't feel like re-modeling the cells with the tabs and crimps folded over. Because of this, I can probably pull another inch or so off the width of the...

Better passenger solution A.K.A. save my marriage

I'd look into a bigger scooter that you can ride more comfortably 2-up. I've zipped around 2-up on 49cc rental scooters, and it was fine. That's definitely a lot less silly looking than dragging somebody around in a trailer. Also you're probably going to want something with more power anyway.

I Need some technical advice for a commuter motorcycle project

No worries. Multiquoting tends to get broken on most forums (it worked great back in the day, but too many people just quoted whole posts so you'd end up loading an entire thread multiple times per page).

I Need some technical advice for a commuter motorcycle project

You're mixing up who you're quoting dude. I was the one that was shooting for 75+mph, I just used my build as an example to illustrate how a mid-drive gives you more flexibility if your wants/needs end up changing. In my case, highway speeds or wheelies, lol. Mine's not a budget 48v build, I...

Yeah, that's visible in the bottom right of the second image. I haven't gotten all the white silicone off, but I'd imagine that's the first thing that would pop when you dump like 30 volts into the wrong place. I wanted to try to poke around between the connector that I unplugged and that...

    First post, electric motorcycle build.

Found a couple cells I wasn't quite comfortable putting on the bike, so I bought 8 more of them. Reconfiguring the pack to 21s4p, which is just within the capability of the meanwells if I crank them all the way up. Second controller arrived, and I popped open the one I blew up. Haven't...

I Need some technical advice for a commuter motorcycle project

A huge part of the reason I'm building a mid-drive with 1.5:1 primary reduction is so that I can run roughly-stock sized front and rear sprockets. I'm gearing for a top speed of 75-80mph so that I can hang with my friends on gas bikes and comfortably ride it on the highway for short distances...
