    current/amperage rating for WL-086-01 BMS

I have this old LiFePO4 BMS with WL-086-01 FR-4 94V0 May 2008 printed on the board. Before I bother checking to see if it still works, does anyone know the current/amperage rating is suppose to be for this BMS?

continuous draw on harvested 18650 cells?

Thanks, but buying a new mid drive kit is not an option at the moment. I have a rear wheel 1500W kit (fine print actually says it's 1860W peak) I bought 2 years ago that I'm simply trying to make use of. If fam and I end up using bikes frequently and the rear wheel doesn't prove enough power...

continuous draw on harvested 18650 cells?

Where can I buy these cells that can easily do 3A continuous for less than $2.00?

continuous draw on harvested 18650 cells?

No, I don't mind buying stuff over again and again - I wouldn't mind the lesson first hand. Yeah, 2.6 Ah cells (tested not rated capacity) are my cut off for this project, so I'll test those cells at 2 and 3 A for sag and heat. At what voltage drop or temp increase should I reject cells?

continuous draw on harvested 18650 cells?

My e-bike kit is a 52 volts, 1500 watts system which means the controller can do up to 30 amps roughly. I imagine I'll need all that power because of the hills in my city (Seattle) and I'll have the kids in tow sometimes. I want to use 18650 cells harvested from laptop batteries (14s10p). I'm...

can I use five 12v power supplies in series to charge 52v battery?

Well I wasn't expecting to be able to directly connect a power supply to the batteries to charge it (albeit babysitting it), that's interesting. I was thinking there is something out there similar to smart chargers for RC hobby car/drone LiPo or NiMH batteries, but for e-bike li-ion batteries...

can I use five 12v power supplies in series to charge 52v battery?

I'm eventually building a 52v li-ion battery (14s10p, 18650 cells) for my first e-bike. I have a ton of 12v server power supplies (all the same make and model) laying around - I guesstimate their actual voltage output range to be 12.2 to 12.4 volts. I've already figured out the pin outs to...

started e-bike project, made mistakes, now a lil' lost

Thanks, I'll go this route (since my bike mechanic skills are noobish at the moment).

So can I simply buy a 8 speed freewheel to make things easier?

Ah, I didn't know that. I don't have time at the moment to take the wheel apart and investigate - I took pictures (attached), can someone tell by looking at them and determine if it's freewheel or cassette?

started e-bike project, made mistakes, now a lil' lost

The seller said the bundled 7 speed freewheel is optional - I can simply re-use the bike's 8 speed freewheel with the kit's motor hub wheel. Thanks though for all the input on that. Now, I just gotta figure out how to efficiently determine the capacity of these salvaged 18650's (or just buy new...

started e-bike project, made mistakes, now a lil' lost

I got lucky and picked up a 2013, or later, XL Nishiki Colorado 29er off Craigslist this past Friday. This bike checks off everything on my updated wish list for a conversion (beefier frame, mechanical disc brakes, front suspension, wider tires) so I guess I'm almost ready to finally start...

Thanks! This is exactly what I imagined my initial ebike experience to be too.

started e-bike project, made mistakes, now a lil' lost

Thanks for the donor frame recommendations but I prefer one that has at least front disc brakes and front suspension (again, I'll upgrade bike components later, I just wanna get down to the e-bike tinkering part LOL). Looking at pictures of 29ers, I'm starting to worry, because I plan to use...

started e-bike project, made mistakes, now a lil' lost

Yes, they're both 700c wheels, though that Fuji has a 700x25c wheel which I assume would be too narrow for a 29er tire. I don't think I have a choice, I have to go with a cheap Walmart/Amazon/Sears/Target 29er MTB, for now, to keep the project rolling :( and it'll likely be an undersized frame...

started e-bike project, made mistakes, now a lil' lost

LOL! I guess I'm beefy (6' 3", 245 lbs), but when I said beefy I'm referring to the frame being strong and safe enough for faster speeds than it was originally built for. Most of stock/ready made e-bikes I see in the local stores have thicker frames and wider tires and I understand now, from...

started e-bike project, made mistakes, now a lil' lost

So I jumped right into my e-bike conversion project with no real research, no bike and no real biking experience (I last road a bike when I was 10) - I love to tinker and have a couple hundred 18650 li-on batteries so that's all I needed to get started right away LOL. Ordered a 48V 1500W 700c...
