    I have a tomos moped. The magneeto (alternator) is very "dirty" produces AC which is rectified to DC and its output fluctuates with RPM so its never actually 12 volt (or 14.4 really). The magneeto couldn't handle the 45 watt headlight (and run the engine and anything else) so I disconnected...

    Doc, What motor oil weight do you use up there? Here in Nebraska it got to -10 F and I always use 5w30 (used to use 10w30). It starts a lot easier!

    I'm still working on getting my electric reel mower working... after trying direct drive, then chain, I've finally decided on using a 24v 100 watt motor off a razor e100 scooter with a htd 3mm timing belt for the drive system... It still spins way too fast but the rpms are better at 40 % or...

    Yep ran it as is. simply found another 12 ah battery wired it into the pack. It went 5-7 mph faster with better torque... I've since switched to a better controller and am still using the motor at 36 volts with no problems... over 500 miles...
