Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

That's what I did. I still have my 300xc along with a nicely modified Light Bee. I only use the 300 for really long rides. There are certain types of shorter trails where the 300's suspension and size would make it faster than the Light Bee but I have more fun on the much lighter, slightly...

Maybe they changed the BMS. That was the cause of almost every problem I heard of.

That's because those pictures are an entirely different bike that doesn't have a linkage occupying the same space as a motor, nor a motor mounted on the swingarm. Edit: Actually those are photos of two different bikes, both different than the digital "photo" I commented on. If you wanna make...

This is nothing more than a drawing. The definition of vaporware. It'll be 50 years before they perfect the physics that allow the motor and lower half of the shock and linkage to occupy the same space. Even if the drawing was better thought out no one wants motor weight on their suspension. If...

I've got another Sur-ron on the way and this one will come with the 3rd gen X-controller with regen. Does anyone with a 2nd gen non-regen X-controller want to trade?

Why not mount a 19x3 or 19x3.25 tire on the stock rim?

I live in Hawaii and climb very steep, long hills in 90°+. With a stock motor/controller/battery I've had no signs of overheating. If you modify it for more power you'll have to be careful how you use it. The safer alternative is to down gear it for more power at the wheel without more heat at...

The rear rotor is unique to Sur-ron and can only be bought from you country's distributor. You won't find any bicycle or motorcycle rotor that fits the rear hub. The front rotor is a normal bicycle part.

The stock tire is very short. Putting a 3" tire on raises the rear considerably.

With a 26" front wheel run the fork as low as you can. Also, get a 500lb spring (Rockshox Vivid spring for the stock shock). If you're over 200lbs get a 550. I have one to sell since I settled on the 500. Move the rear axle as far back as the brake carrier allows and put the pegs in the rear...

I wouldn't run my van's engine when parked to charge the batteries, only when driving. When parked and charging there will be solar panels sending electricity into the van's dual heavy duty batteries.

I guess the important question is how much loss is there (as heat?) running an inverter and the stock charger. That's clearly the simple way to do it but I figured efficiency mattered when I've only got a couple solar panels or running my van's engine to make the electricity.

Does a charger exist that can run directly off my van's 12v system? It seems using an inverter and then the stock charger is wasting a bunch of electricity (turned to heat) going from DC to AC and then back. I'm envisioning something that can be clipped to the battery terminals and plugged into...

The cheapest route is to get a Shimano lever assembly for one side. As cheap as $25. A bike shop will swap levers and bleed for about $30 labor.

I don't know why they used a 10.5x3.0 but it's a unique size. Every 10.5" shock you find is gonna be 3.5" stroke. My guess is the suspension leverage gets so low* that late in the travel that you'll never use the last bit anyway. *If you look at the linkage it's quite progressive so more...

The stock shock is 10.5x3.0". So your wheel is now goes deeper into the travel than stock. Have you removed the spring and checked clearance at bottom out?

How did you repressurize the damper cartridge. That weird version of a schrader valve kept me from opening it. RST told me it comes with 10wt oil so I was gonna fill it with 15 and up the pressure.

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

20% is a lot of fork sag. If you aren't bottoming out and don't mind the steep head angle I guess you're okay but at 170lbs I was diving and sagging all the time and clanking hard off the bottom whenever I jumped. The compression clicker only firms LSC which blows off under impacts. It only...

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I emailed RST and bought a "firm" spring but when I swapped it both it and the stocker had red paint on them and felt the same. They don't make an extra firm. I preloaded the spring with 2 washers between it and the plunger and that made it a little firmer. I poured 50cc of oil in the left leg...

RE: Swingarm Flex My cut Shinko 3.5" tire clears the kickstand spring by over 5mm but under hard cornering it hits. The spokes are tight and it has 20psi. That's swingarm flex. I decided to find a smaller, lighter, less grippy tire that doesn't overwork the chassis so hard.

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

That looks like the same chain clearance as my cut Shinko 3.5". I wonder if it's any lighter. Can I see the kickstand side? Maybe I'll try the 3.0" Duro but what I really want is a 2 ply 3.25" version of the Shinko. Hopefully someone knows a hardpack motocross tire that pretty much fits the bill.

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

What's the biggest 70/100 19" tire? I got a Shinko SR241 3.5" (cut) but the 4 ply casing is too heavy and dead feeling for this bike. I'll try the Duro HF307 (cut) in 3.25 but it seems the only 2 ply tires are motocross style and labeled 70/100. I looked but 80/100 × 19" doesn't seem to exist...
