Justins presentation on Hub motors (88min YT vid)

I think that's where he says my name, "Mick." He was just mentioning that we started work on this years back, and yes, e-motos are very much in need of this, and I personally can't wait for that since I'm kinda out of the ebike scene now (health). Like Justin said, the system can be automated...

Thanks for posting this Lock. Although I was sitting right behind the camera, I'll have to watch the talk again to see if I missed any details. Good job Justin!

Justin's ebike adventure across Canada video

If you have FTP set up, just PM me the info and I can upload the file directly. Otherwise, it will be posted in HQ on Youtube fairly soon. Yes, agreed, a truly historic event! I'm so happy to know a real pioneer!

Justin's ebike adventure across Canada video

Hi all. I have a 2 hour video presentation of Justin showing images and chatting about his cross-Canada trip (taken at the last VEVA meeting here in Vancouver) if anyone is interested   Thanks to Zoot Katz for arranging the recording! It's in wmv format and ready to upload...

    NuVinci + 5304 + 48V LifePO4 = :)

Thanks Mark. I have just the item for that, so hopefully a dropout failure will be contained long enough for me to stop safely. Torque on the crown (?) still concerns me; I'm attempting to find a set of forks from a small motocross bike that can be modified enough for a bicycle. It really is...

Can anyone recommend a particular model of forks? I need some good travel, and strength is paramount. Then there's cost...

paultrafalgar: I'll have to chat with Justin about getting some actual data from the NuVinci hub - input energy vs output at various ratios. I think he has a bit of an interest in this device as well. From a purely subjective standpoint, the NuVinci hub is far more 'efficient' in that I enjoy...

I'll get some nice close-up shots of the forks tomorrow to show you guys... Thanks for the image voicecoils; looks like good insurance to me! Has anyone considered using forks from a smaller motocross bike / motor scooter? Just found these (nice!):

    NuVinci + 5304 + 48V LifePO4 = :)

Yes, that is a fear that haunts me whenever I ride... The forks on this bike were designed to carry a much greater load than is typical, as the motor area was originally where the NiMH battery case was on the Tidalforce, but either way, I intend to upgrade to something more motorcycle-like when...

    NuVinci + 5304 + 48V LifePO4 = :)

True... Guess I was meaning that the frame/motor were one before, sprung by the tire, so i really felt the inertia of that chunck-o-fun back there. It feels entirely different now - so much smoother and lighter, except for those occasions when I try to lift the front (on or off the bike) to...

The weight distribution is WAY better than before. Also, even though the motor is now 'unsprung', the fat tire absorbs all the bumps, and the bike handles far better overall.

I finally have my M-750 rebuilt. 5304 front, NuVinci rear, 48V12Ah LiFePO4, 35A CL cont, ebikes lighting - front and rear. To come: new controller with regen, right-hand twist throttle (left-hand thumb regen), and funky front disk arrangement. kVPjhmTThPo

    Lucky me!

Their size is a bit of an illusion as I've now noticed. Just compare the LED-blocks to my handgrips in image f691776 to get a better perspective. I run the extra-large CA, and a rather narrow handlebar with two-finger brake levers. Overall, when combined with the halo of light surrounding...

    Lucky me!

These are not yet available as far as I know, but the ever kindhearted souls at ebikes.ca set me up with their latest and greatest product, LED lighting, such that I could brave the dimly lit streets of Vancouver without (as much) fear of being mowed down. Full specs and documentation to...

    Cross-Canada by Ebike

Justin: Just wondering how much energy you think would be sapped by having some suspension (albeit stiff)? Have you had any experience comparing the energy consumption of a particular ebike with and without suspension?
