    Li-ion cells cycle ageing

This is awesome work. Thank you Docware, Flippy , and Pajda for your reliable and valuable contributions . You've consistently done the electric powered community a huge service. Less educated newbies ( such as myself) - to this complicated and sometimes overwhelming niche of present and future...

52 volt 24 ah battery playing possum

These situations are why I don't use a bms. Id rather trust myself to keep tabs on it than flaky electronics.

    LG HG2 Pack problems

If they didn't get hot at 16A it's highly unlikely that they're fakes. It's also unlikely that a 16A load caused premature death . But the combination of high charge rates, high discharge rates, overcharging , and shorting may have exposed some of the weaker cells. Those would have shown their...

    LG HG2 Pack problems

There were a lot of fake HG2 for some time. Did you notice a lot of voltage sag early on when pushing high current?

    Li-ion cells cycle ageing

I could be mistaken, but I don't think many vendors in the states had the M36 , until very recently, but I just noticed that IMR has them for $3.49USD/ea . I can't wait to see how they do at 2C . Is there any chance one of you guys could run 100 cycles at 5 or 6 amps before I get my equipment ...

    Freakin awesome Doc.

    Li-ion cells cycle ageing

Once christmas is in the books , I'm going to try to get the equipment to help with this testing. Notably 2C and 3C loads on M36 , 30Q, 29E, M29, VTC6, and Sanyo UR18650NSX up to around 300 cycles.

    Li-ion cells cycle ageing

I'm a bit stunned how bad the panny/sanyos look .

    Li-ion cells cycle ageing

If this goes to 1k , my money is on 29E to finish with the highest capacity. His results basically reinforce everything Flippy has posted many times.

    Sweet spot for cycle life?

Probably too many variables to get that nit picky about it. Just stick to your 50% - 80% and don't charge it in freezing temps .

Samsung 40T and other cells like it?

The Queen Battery QB26800 doesn't quite hit the current rating to compete with the high discharge Samsungs , but it has a whopping capacity per cell . I haven't used these personally to comment on longevity , but they apparently test well in reviews.

Battery kit - Does it need spot welding?

Even those Vruzend caps that have spring loaded contacts have to be secured with bolts basically to maintain enough pressure . Physics just isn't kind to pressure contact methods of battery building. Probably the best solution that doesn't involve welding is AmTech https://18650.lt

Battery kit - Does it need spot welding?

"3. Battery holder can be spliced by locking bar. Holder and locking bar is separate design. Then it is ok to weld small battery pack firstly, and then to assemble big battery pack. (Another factory holder only can be assembled firstly, and then to weld battery pack. It is not good for big...

Battery kit - Does it need spot welding?

It does require spot welding. Those are just holders and not modules with contacts.

Nice breakdown ! It looks even better than I thought it would be , for soldering purposes.

    Boston-Power Swing 5300 Li-ion cell test

The positive end on BP cells is the big flat side and the negative is the small button end IIRC The positive end does have a nickel strip professionally welded in place to solve that problem . If the negative button is nickel plated steel , as I assume it is, it seems that soldering one...

    Boston-Power Swing 5300 Li-ion cell test

I'm not knowledgeable enough to temp that fate. Supposedly lifting the tab up with a razor blade on the + end and soldering it isn't a problem because it's not in direct contact there , but Im not sure about that negative end. It's basically the same as an 18650 there, based on my ignorant...

    Boston-Power Swing 5300 Li-ion cell test

Yeh that tab they welded on the postive end of the can removes the problem you would have with spot welding. I believe the negative button is nickel plated steel, so no problem there. As far as the heatsink, if you had the space, a block of aluminum with a coiled up copper tube at the end of...

    bogus power supply?

I assume this is the post https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=101278&p=1480675&hilit=jonyjoe#p1480675 This combo makes a pretty damn nice charger for less than $150 going with the Hlg 480 watt.

    bogus power supply?

You get nearly 12amps using 110v as input source? That's one thing I was concerned about was having a lower output using 110v. Now that I saw your post , I looked at the 600w version and it seems hard to beat.

    Boston-Power Swing 5300 Li-ion cell test

I would think that large aluminum case is a pretty big deal too , since it dissipates heat to the outside of the cell much faster than a steel case would . If they weren't tabbed , I wouldn't even bother fooling with trying to weld one together , but since they are factory tabbed with nickel...

    bogus power supply?

Yes those hlg units look better and better the more I dig into quality vs budget vs functionality. Thanks for your guidance guys.

The guy that built the yz85 looking bike seemed to like his BP pack a lot.

    bogus power supply?

In the end it would probably be more reliable and cost effective to buy 2 units, rather than try to find an all in one solution.
