    Newb planning a touring build

I think some more specificity on the grades, length, and your required speeds for the climbs would help narrow it down. For example: I've got a bikepacking setup utilizing a gravel setup that usually carries around 25~30lbs when loaded. It has a front Bafang G310 motor (around 6lbs. dressed)...

Do you ride your ebike w/o assist for aerobics?

The gravel bike I built up with a CYC Photon is used more or less like that. I have it set to cut out at 20kph (12mph,) and have the assist limits set at 50/150/300W, so as to only kick in on >5% hills or so, if I choose. Usually end up using around 50-100Wh on a typical 60~120km fun ride here...

    Fat Tires 20x4 Road Tread

I've been using 100-406 Schwalbe Super Moto-X tires for a couple thousand kilometers and a few months now. Rolling resistance measures about 0.008 at 1bar/15PSI, so not great, but not terrible either. Don't have an objective way to measure sidewall stiffness, but subjectively much, much softer...

    Are framework laptops any good?

I haven't owned one, but was recently contracted to develop a custom AI accelerator expansion card set for a set of Framework 13 laptops (in the original chassis.) Didn't get a ton of time to futz with the laptops themselves, but having taken them apart a handful of times to instrument them...

Mini Hiryuu - Mid power ebike

Just another data point, have had a cycle somewhat similar to yours (10.2rpm/V RH212 in a 26" wheel, ~90lbs total, 110A peak phase currents in both directions) with a v7 torque arm on the brake side, homemade one on the cassette side, and it has clocked approx. 37000kms to date without any...

    Grin Phaserunner suite help!

Win11 user here as well. If you plug your USB-serial cable in after the Phaserunner Suite has started, it *should*, after a few seconds, automatically detect it: If the cable was plugged in before starting PRS, then the Phaserunner Suite won't autodetect it, but you can use the same dropdown...

Baserunner V5 seperate throttle from eBrake

My Baserunner L10s are V6s, but I believe the wiring scheme is the same as the V5. First of all, the current firmware only allows AIN2 and 3 for the regen brake voltage source. Thus, I moved the normal throttle to AIN1 ("T1" on the Main9 plug) by cutting the green wire on the CA WP8 plug and...

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Here's a rough data point for you: 4T Leaf 35H in the rear, pretty upright fatbike frame, 100-406 tires front and rear, 14S battery, at ~50V battery voltage under a load of ~2500W, with 20A of flux weakening, I'm able to sustain about 62km/h on level ground. HTH.

    Grin's rear all axle motor!

Maybe not "to the limits," but here's my dual (narrow) GAA setup with a 14S battery stack at nominal: (edit: wrong image pasted in) The design was to climb an ~8%, 10km hill at 40°C ambient carrying up to 10kg of additional mass in luggage. I'm assuming the motor simulator temperature rise...

My Bullit build using the Repairable and Refillable Gouach Battery

Thanks for sharing, and especially the engineering test data... much appreciated. So, BOM-wise, for a customer, a rebuild of the pack entails new cells, and... anything else? what sizes of cells are supported? also realize that it's early in the documentation process, but would love to see...

    Vintage ebike display, dumb idea.

we used to use them ages ago in autos, and i recall them being rated somewhere in the neighborhood of 10g/50g for half-sine shock and 10~100Hz vibe, so they should last a long time as long as you take reasonable care in shock mounting them on your MTB.

Troubleshooting Baserunner w/ Cycle Analyst setup

CA torque ramps and ebrake have no effect when the throttle input mode is set to bypass. suggest resetting the CA parameters to reasonable defaults and using "pass-thru" throttle input mode. as for the torque up hills, that'll be directly dependent on motor phase current (typically limited by...

Great test of different sealants in motorcycle tires

this sounds like the aforementioned flat-out. afaict, kevlar fibers suspended in a mixture of ground vulcanized rubber bits and propylene or ethylene glycol: FLATOUT lower viscosity formulation that i use in typical bicycle-sized tires to help prevent vibration at speed

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

5kph/s is totally usable on flat ground... from a stop on a grade >5% though, I'd wish for a bit more oomph... Nothing's "wrong" with your calculation, just that that's the steady-state consumption. Many people accelerate with full throttle to get to speed faster, and with your 100A battery...

Handlebar mounted USB-A power outlet via your Cycle Analyst

Anecdotal, but I have a ~30W LED headlight, ~2W taillight, and ~10W Qi charger connected to said DC plug on a 16s NCA battery, and has worked for a few years without overheating the polyfuse even at 40°C ambient.

Easy way to add SuperCaps for better regen etc..? (white paper)

I think this pic says it all. Yeah, the system performs well electrically, but you're looking at north of $1000 of supercaps to support what looks like a couple of 200Wh packs...

Successor to the infineon clone controllers in the 1000-2000w power range?

Grin makes just such a lever, with level shifter to shift the output from 0~4V. Used it on a Baserunner to good effect.

Thank you for taking the time to document your travels... reminds me of some of the good times I had working in Xhanty-Mansisky in the oil business.
