    Lifepo4 voltage?

Thanks for the response. I just went for a 5 minute test ride. Before riding the voltage read 45.1 on the battery. After that short ride it reads 39.8. Should it be that low that quick? The battery is 12 AH. Thanks!

    Lifepo4 voltage?

Thank you for the replies. Is it normal for it while on the charger, and testing through the other lead to read at and above 45v? The battery is from CammyCC. I'm impressed so far!

    Lifepo4 voltage?

Thank you for the response! Hopefully that 3 volts will make a difference! It's charging now, are all these charges pretty much the same? It goes red when I plug it in, and after a big goes green then red. and now it's solid green but the battery reds 42.6v. Will the charger stop charging...

    Lifepo4 voltage?

Hiya, How many volts does a fully charged 36v lifepo4 put out? I just tested my setup and the battery was reading 40.2volts but it seemed really weak. (I didn't get on it.) the battery hasn't been charged yet. But I'm wondering what fully charged voltage is? Thanks!

Torque Arm and Drop Out Question

Thank you for the replies. The wheel spins clockwise, so I will put it on the right of the bike. But should the arm go forward or aft? Sorry for the confusion, the drawing is just the dropout, it does not display the torque arm.

Torque Arm and Drop Out Question

Hi, I have a solid steel fork and purchased a Amped Bike Torque arm just to be safe. What side does the torque arm go on? And does the arm part go foward or rearward? Also, my dropouts are all steel, and fit without inside washers. However, there is a very slight gap between the top of the...

    Help wiring up a LifePo4?

Hi all, Can someone lend me a hand? I'm eagerly trying to get my Ebike ready. Got everything today! Anyway the battery is confusing me. It came with no information. I am using the Ampedbiked kit and none of the connectors match! If you could follow my picture story and tell me what the wires...

2004 Giant Boulder -- help please?

Hi, I'm converting my Giant 2004 boulder to electric using the Amped Bike Kit. The frame is steel, but the fork is a suspension fork with aluminum drop outs. I will be using a Lifepo4 battery. I have two options: 1) Front hub kit and buy a steel rigid fork 2) Rear hub kit What would be...

Do I need a Torque arm for steel front forks, too?

Thanks for the reply. I'd rather not risk anything then. Would this be sufficient? I will be using 36v. http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=&subcategory=&brand=&sku=13284&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=Show%20All%20Products

Do I need a Torque arm for steel front forks, too?

Thank you for all the replies. I've found out that it is Aluminum. Can I use it with a torque arm or is that a bad idea? Did it matter that it was a suspension fork?

Do I need a Torque arm for steel front forks, too?

Hi guys, Purchasing a Ampedbikes kit and am wondering if I'll need a torque arm for the front fork if it's steel? Will be a mountain bike fork if that makes any difference. Also, if I do need a torque arm, do I need one for each side or just one? Planning on using this on a Steel Giant Boulder...

Amped Bike kit and 12ah 36v LifePo4 - acceptable combo?

I've read that if you have a "weak" battery, it can ruin them. I just don't want it to be ruined. I live in a relatively flat area. I talked to Danny and he said the max I'll see is 19 amps. The battery is within that range as Max Cont. Current.

Amped Bike kit and 12ah 36v LifePo4 - acceptable combo?

Hi all, Can someone explain to me how you decide if a battery is strong enough to hold up to a specific motor and esc combo? I'm looking into the 12ah 36v LifePo4 packs, and am unsure if they are sufficient. Thank you

    Caring for LifePo4 batteries?

Do I have to do anything special to "break them in" when getting them? Does it harm them to charge them up when they are not discharged a lot? Does it hurt to run them if they are not fully charged? I plan on using a 12ah 36v LifePo4 pack on a Ampedbikes 500w motor. Danny from Ampedbikes says...

    Caring for LifePo4 batteries?

Hi, I've decided to use a LifePo4 for my ebike. It will cost more but I think it will be better in the long run. I was wondering if there is anything important I need to know while using these. For my R/C planes I can not over discharge or over charge Lithium Poly batteries, or I will risk...

    R/C Hobbiest, worker, bicyclist...

Thank you! I think I will go with NiMH then, because of the Giant pack I can get. Do you think that will handle 19 amp bursts (up hills?) The C rating would have to be 2.1 for that. I sent an email to someone at Giant who deals with these bikes and he doesn't know what the C rating is. The...

    Where to buy B&B BP SLA's 12ah+ 12v?

Hi guys, I'm trying to weigh all my options for batteries. I'm down to either a 9ah 36v Nimh for about $180 or considering using a "better-brand" SLA. I guess B&B is a good SLA brand. Where would I find some and what is a good price? I think if I went SLA i'd want 12AH packs. And it looks like...

    R/C Hobbiest, worker, bicyclist...

The more I read the more confused I become. It seems to me that everyone thinks Lifepo4's are the best way to go right now. And flying LiPo's in planes and rc cars I can agree. However, it sounds like I will be greatly dissappointed if I get a NIMH pack. Is this true? Should I be spending 500+...

    R/C Hobbiest, worker, bicyclist...

Thanks for all the thoughtful replies. It seems that everyone is leaning towards the Lfepo4 batteries. But is a 9ah nimh going to be good for me? Is it going to be really set back on any attributes (power, distance, etc?) It would be better than a 9AH SLA, correct? The Ampedbike kit will only...

    R/C Hobbiest, worker, bicyclist...

Thank you all for the replies. I appreciate it. I think I will be going with the Ampedbikes kit then. Now to decide on a power source. To get cells from work, even with a discount I'd be paying 300-400 for the cells. At that point it would be smarter to get a LifePo4 battery. But, I can't really...

    R/C Hobbiest, worker, bicyclist...

Hi all, WOW! How exciting! I work at a Hobby Store and play with planes and cars all day. Along with that I'm really into bicycles. Now I find out that these two realms are somewhat combined! Anyway, to get started, and to commute to work I was looking at purchasing the ampedbikes.com kit. It...
