    controller upgrade questions

Yeah, I haven't done anything to upgrade yet. Like I said in my previous posts, I would like more amps for a little extra boost going up hills. The motor with the standard 22 amp controller will push my trike to 30 mph on the flats, but I really only ride between 14 - 18 with the occasional 20...

    Geared Hub vs Mid-Drive?

OK, so I've installed both a hub motor and mid-drive on two different bikes (BBSHD and a 500w Bafang Rear Hub) both of which seem to do fine on the hills I need to climb. I recently bought a trike (catrike 559) with the idea that I would swap one of those two motors over to the trike, as I have...

Learning more about DIY ebike builders and ebike owners

If you really want to know DIY'ers and owners' perspectives, build one!! Build a mid-drive and a hub drive. Compare torque sensing with PAS. Look at controller options, etc. Nothing like street cred!!

    controller upgrade questions

No, I really don't want to mess with anything like a shunt mod. After doing a BBSHD conversion on one bike, and a rear hub on another, I want things as simple/plug-and-play as possible.

    controller upgrade questions

Thanks for the suggestions, Eastwood. 25a vs. 20a does have some difference in acceleration at the low end as E-HP pointed out. I would probably consider going to 30 or even 35 amp, as I am not that interested in top speed, but I'm definitely not interested in cutting/splicing wires, etc., and...

    controller upgrade questions

Thanks, MadRhino. My battery bms is rated for 40 amps continuous so it should be good to go.

    controller upgrade questions

Thanks, Chalo. I wasn't sure if the 9 pin was a bottle neck, that's why I figured 25A would be my max. Thanks E-HP for confirming that I need a KT compatible display (I had sort of suspected that from the forums, but wasn't sure if I had missed something). So the 1 to 5 cables from the...

    controller upgrade questions

So I currently have a Bafang 48v/500w rear hub motor and the controller for it is 20a max. I am considering upgrading to a KT controller (25A) to get a little more power out of the motor. It seems no one really makes a controller over about 20-22 amps that is a direct swap for the type of...

    Need Help Finding A Freewheel

Bunch of different ones here: https://www.modernbike.com/multi-speed-freewheels No affiliation, but that's where I got my 9 speed 11-32. I'm sure other online retailers have many of these, too, although many are soldout - I think finding an actual shimano might be tough. Also a few here...

Should I add a motor to this MTB bike frame or find another source?

Guys I actually like to hear all opinions so I am good to hear all points!! I am tempted to buy new but yea they are not only expensive but also can be difficult to replace parts if needed! This to me is a very big deal! If I do a DIY, it would be rather easy to get replacement parts plus I will...
