Dead Battery - New cost of my e-bikes

its not explosively dangerous. I've killed many alternators from using Subs or powerful lighting systems. They just give up the ghost without warning never to put forth a spark again.... till you rebuild them.

    The next step in E-bikes?

I can see the problem with a leak for sure! But if you think about it, The tanks do separate from the bikes and can be stored outside. since you don't have to "charge" anything, there's no real reason for it to be indoors anyway. The only disadvantage that I see is the cost of Hydrogen is...

    The next step in E-bikes?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td4xwmDa9Yo&feature=related looks like some smart folks are working on Fuel cell bikes... it seems to be a pretty compact package that retains our familiar hub motors. I'd like to know the range or output though! Seems a hell of a lot safer putting fuel cell Tech...

    First 10km+ ride!

Just an update for anyone that might find it useful somewhere down the road... I found the right spoke wrench, but absolutely no bicycle shops in town carried anything big enough. I had to go to a motorcycle shop to find one the right size.

I've had my bike out in the past while adjusting things so they are the way I like it, but nothing over 2 or 3 km at a time. Today was my first ride over 10KM and some unexpected problems came up! My Cycle Analyst came apart while riding!!! The screw that holds the angle adjuster/mounting...

Why are BMS (battery management) important?

there was post covering this just a day or so ago, but can't for the life of my find it now.... anyways, the gist of what I read was that its not the end of the world to run lipo's without a BMS, but after several deep discharges and charge cycles the batteries become unbalanced and will lose...

    Cycle Analyst VS. Battery Analyzer

well.. i can only speak for the CA because thats what I have. The first thing that immediately comes to my mind is that if used in conjunction with the other C-lyte parts from ebikes.ca, is that it's a brainless install... just plug it in and go. I'm not sure if it was the wattsup, but I have...

just finished putting together a rough version of my new and first ebike build! I'm using a 48V NiCad 5C 8AH Battery with a Clyte 406 and 36-72V 20A pedal first controller with a cycle analyst from Ebikes.ca and was wondering if anyone has a rough idea what I should be setting the LVC to on the...

Go kart clutch? Has this been discussed?

RC motors spin faster than kart engines and on a centrifugal clutch the faster it spins the harder it grips.... unless its spinning so fast it flies apart, then thats no good! :) Check out the video link. There's 3 RC motors on a common axle attached to a tiny little Kart Centrifugal clutch. As...

Go kart clutch? Has this been discussed?

Been lurking some time, and have been really interested in the developments in the RC motor route... I just read a post on the tech board that linked this this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwODx028_Jw Ignoring the fact that he has 3 motors on a common axle, he's using a go kart clutch...
