More mid drives should have a back pedal support version

Backpedal Regen just needs a bidirectional cadence sensor whereas a coaster brake setup requires a completely different setup of clutches. Basically all the mids have cadence sensors already, it's just a question of what kind of sensor it is. The photon has a backpedal to turn off the motor...

    CYC PHOTON

My photon is also off by about 0.6V. This is something that should be solvable with custom firmware. The current firmware uses hard coded values for the resistors in the voltage divider. Make them variable and add a calibration screen somewhere. I'll keep talking about custom firmware and...

eCumbent Bike - MAC Motor 8T - New Controller options

Nah, I've only used a reention case myself but from what I've read the two are very similar and neither is superior. Focus more on the quality of the cells inside instead of the shell on the outside (just in case there's confusion, reention and hailong are the brand/style of the battery case...

    Lower speed higher torque

https://ebikes.ca/shop/electric-bicycle-parts/motors/geared-wheelbarrow-motor-with-tire.html It's probably more expensive than what you've been looking at but it's convenient since it's got massive gearing already built in, plus no chains etc. Depends on your design I guess. Figured I'd bring...

eCumbent Bike - MAC Motor 8T - New Controller options

If you get the battery from anywhere but ebikes.ca you'll need to buy a custom baseplate from them for fitting the baserunner. Reention battery baseplate, machined to fit Baserunner (a bit more info here Baserunner - Grin Products - Product Info) Unless you have the ability to machine down the...

eCumbent Bike - MAC Motor 8T - New Controller options

If willing to splurge you could get basically the super harness kit from ebikes.ca sans motor https://ebikes.ca/shop/kits-by-type/superh-kits/gmac-superh-kit.html The controller is tiny and fits into the battery casing. It also is designed with MAC motors in mind as they sell the GMAC which is...

Quick Release Handlebar? (Alternative to Turtle Neck Quick Release)

I'm very curious about the motivation for this? Wouldn't brake cables and wires and stuff get in the way even if the stem could be easily removed? Anyway sorry I can't actually help, I totally understand the frustration of finding that elusive niche product though. Best of luck.

UK gov' consultation to allow higher power ebikes and throttles

In BC we have a "limited speed motorcycles" category Mopeds and scooters In theory great. Very similar to what you mentioned, license required etc. In practice it still ends up pretty restrictive. Insurance is mandatory and still comparatively expensive (I think like $350 cad a year and that's...

Maxarya Ray 2 Semi Recumbent w/high efficiency mid drive

What about the sun ez-rider? Too long? Does have the rear suspension though not the front. 2005 Sun Bicycles EZ - Bicycle Details - BicycleBlueBook.com They aren't sold new anymore that I can tell (does anybody have new semi recumbents at all??? I feel sunseeker is the only one) but I see them...

Best IGH for BBSHD powered recumbent trike?

The site you found with the big selection is Grin's website (ebikes.ca) Basically the gold standard.

    CYC PHOTON

.35mm laminations (10 were 3.5mm, my eyes did not enjoy counting them, am I getting old? :P) Stator core measured 5.23cm and the inside diameter of the rotor was 5.34cm.

    CYC PHOTON

So one of the advantages of a warranty repair is I got to keep the original motor core. I decided to take it apart to see what's inside. I don't know much about motor construction to gain much insights but I've included pics. 14 magnets measuring 1cm*4.2cm and are 2mm thick. The laminations are...

This guys trick has been working reliably for me with my photon. Of course a proper Isis crank puller is more reliable still.

Does this imaginary voltmeter that I want exist?

Well I ended up in a rabbit hole of my own. You need sniped me! https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/661989/dc-voltage-48-58-v-to-0-10-v-scaling I found this, it's basically what you want to do but with a lower battery voltage so the answers should hopefully be applicable. Of course...

Does this imaginary voltmeter that I want exist?

Well analog speedometers are made with stepper motors and definitely wouldn't have any issues with vibration. I just kind of assumed that a spring based voltmeter would have issues but ultimately my theoretical musings is trumped by your personal experience with your ammeter. That's the exact...

Does this imaginary voltmeter that I want exist?

I've thought about this a bit before, some things I thought of. - vibration could be a big problem for an analog meter, likely you would be better off with a stepper motor and a needle like car speedometers use, they are cheap and easily available, but of course add big time complexity because...

I guess I need to make 72v 35ah battery pack

No it doesn't bypass the BMS protection when charging. It's more than just connecting the charge wires to the discharge port, the circuitry inside a common port BMS is different such that the BMS is able to shut down current in both directions on it's one output/input. Whereas in a separate port...

Hi, I am trying to buy a bbshd and I already have a CA3 with 8 ping connector. Can i use the stock bbshd stock controller with my CA?

Not in a simple plug and play way. It will require some knowledge and rewiring connectors etc along with changing corresponding settings in the CA. You'll need to add an external shunt is one thing I can think of. Then if you want all the throttle stuff you'll need to wire up the throttle...

I guess I need to make 72v 35ah battery pack

I'm not currently set up for regen, though I hope to be someday. When I do, I want both protection in the controller and the BMS. Plus I only charge to 80% typically. I definitely lean on the over cautious side though. If I could only pick one of those three options (while I won't preach needing...

I guess I need to make 72v 35ah battery pack

Common port, charging and discharging are done on the same port on the BMS. Separate port, there are two ports, one for charging, one for discharging. Situations when common port is best include using regen and when parallel connecting two batteries as this allows the BMS to still be able to...

Mini Hiryuu - Mid power ebike

Thanks for the info! I realized shortly after I posted that I don't need to worry though, forgot for a sec that I'm local to Grin so bringing my own rim isn't an issue :P Learned a bit more about rim brakes from your post though, this is my first bike with them since I was a kid and never...

Mini Hiryuu - Mid power ebike

As someone who wants to order a motor from them (when I can budget it) and has V brakes I'm confused. All the rims I've looked at on the site say rim brake compatible in the specifications. Am I missing something?

    'lightest.bike' 1.7kg 1000w mid drive

While I don't think it has that now, the photon has a VESC based controller meaning it's open source and not difficult to get custom firmware onto. So in theory virtually any control scheme is possible. The hardest part is waiting for someone to write the firmware though.

    Open-source connected e-bike platform

You presumably can't use the pedal sensor without your custom vesc or can the pedal sensor be used with any vesc? (which I assume is a torque sensor though it doesn't explicitly say, only says "more natural pedal assistance") Also it feels like an entirely unrelated product to the GPS tracking...

    CYC PHOTON

I didn't bother with a heat gun or hair dryer or anything. I just shoved a slotted screwdriver in there and pried. It came off pretty easily. I couldn't do nearly as neat a job applying the replacement gasket (also I had to buy some stuff myself cause they didn't send any) but it's more...
