    New Frey EX looks promising

I would not need that motor to put out 2000w My Luna BBSHD on my fat bike is more than enough and it is set at 1500w I rarely use a PAS level 5 out of 9 on that bike

    New Frey EX looks promising

Where are you seeing that the first X-1's have shipped? According to the Facebook page where Eric from Luna post, they have not shipped yet. People who paid in advance a few months ago are getting a bit restless because they were supposed to ship a few weeks ago

    New Frey EX looks promising

This is the bike I actually wanted, but it's hard to say when you could ever get one. Luna has not delivered any that it pre sold in July yet This is the Luna X-1

    New Frey EX looks promising

The Frey EX uses the Bafang M620 which is a 1000 watt motor and programmable way higher than that. I would not buy any of the big bike company bikes with the Bosch or Shimano motors. I built this Fat stud a few months ago with the Bafang BBSHD

    New Frey EX looks promising

The kick stand is about the only thing I see that I have no use for :) It is probably handy for some, but I would be using the bike off road

    New Frey EX looks promising

I am guessing that the frame geometry, shock mount and extra battery dictated how the motor is mounted. I suppose they would have rotated it up farther is they could have. Just a guess on my part It looks fine to me the way it is :)

    New Frey EX looks promising

I just saw this article and I am holding off on my next build until I see the Frey EX released and on the Frey web site. I really wanted a Luna X-1 but hard to say if you could ever get one? The new Frey Ex has the Bafang Ultra M620 , which is the motor I wanted :) They are showing the EX with...

750C display fogs up. Can it be taken apart and sealed?

Does anyone know if you can take apart a 750C display? Mine and others are getting moisture inside and fogging up. I would like to seal mine up with some silicone after I have dried it out But I would like to seal it from the inside rather than a bead of silicone on the outside I can't see...

BBSHD - Luna Eclipse offset adapter idea

I got to get out and test the 42 Tooth Eclipse ring with the adapter shown above. Did 28 miles with 2000 feet of climbing. Everything went smoothly. The new 11-40 cassette had enough low end on the steepest stuff I did. The 11 tooth had enough top end for my fat bike. I tested the top speed...

BBSHD - Luna Eclipse offset adapter idea

I ordered a 9 speed KMC chain with 116 links And a Sun Race 11-40 tooth 9 speed cassette It will be a couple days before I can test out the 42 tooth Luna ring I put the 30 tooth ring back on for now

BBSHD - Luna Eclipse offset adapter idea

Loos like the 5th cog up from the smallest 11 tooth is a straight chain line I can probably go back to 9 speed now I did have it set as a 7 speed because of the bad chain line with the 30 tooth Luna mini

BBSHD - Luna Eclipse offset adapter idea

Here's what it looks like mounted I ran into another issue when trying to shift to my lowest gear My 9 speed chain is too short for the 42 tooth chain ring and a 34 tooth cassette cog. The 9 speed Chain and cassette were from a bike I had many years ago They were used to test this setup only I...

BBSHD - Luna Eclipse offset adapter idea

Good eye! I had to put it back on the lathe this morning and chamfer the inside area where the crank arm goes. It was touching just a bit, and the chamfer did the trick I went to Lowes and got some longer 5 mm bolts I'll be doing a test ride tonight

BBSHD - Luna Eclipse offset adapter idea

Ok, here is the adapter, fresh off the lathe I have to get some longer 5 mm bolts today and then I can test it with the 42 tooth Luna eclipse chain ring

BBSHD - Luna Eclipse offset adapter idea

The Luna chain ring is machined in a really clever way. The outer ring and inner hub have a groove and a tongue that fit together perfectly This keeps the two parts perfectly aligned in a perfect circle The 7 screws just pull the two half's together Without that tongue and groove fit, it would...

BBSHD - Luna Eclipse offset adapter idea

Yes the chain ring splits apart Both half's have a ridge and a groove that fits into each other they are not two flat surfaces It's more complex that you realize

BBSHD - Luna Eclipse offset adapter idea

Hard to tell what you are suggestion with all the misspelled words? If you are suggesting to machine the chain ring itself, that's not an option because of the way it is constructed

BBSHD - Luna Eclipse offset adapter idea

I moved the Luna BBSHD motor kit and parts over to another bike Everything was great except the Luna Eclipse 42 tooth chain ring was hitting the chain stay It needs about 6 mm reverse/positive offset to make it clear Shimming the motor out away from the BB is not an option with my 120 mm BB...

    Luna Wolf Battery mount mod

I had an issue on this carbon bike where the Wolf battery was sliding down the tube until it hit the seat tube. This happened twice on a very bumpy gravel road descent. That never happened on that red mongoose I show in this video. So the two 3D printed blocks up above the top magnet also keep...

    Luna Wolf Battery mount mod

yeah, the tough part is that the frame tube radius changes from top to bottom So even a one inch wide segment is wider at the bottom then at the top of that segment Taping a piece of sand paper to the frame lets you dial in the exact shape once you get it close enough
