Welcome to Lil' Indy.. Ohio's Premier 1/10 Mile Clay Oval Go-Kart Track.

This guy is a world class fabricator/show bike builder & rides an e-bike to work in the winter(maybe more than that these days)
The track is a bull ring oval & it really is a lot of fun to ride on.....even more fun to race on.

Show up & meet the crews, have a picnic, swap some stuff, make some memories.
My sept callender is full.
the 10th=thunderdrom 3 (see you there grindz)
the 17th is my step sons wedding (prolly should show up for that LOL)
& now this....YE-Haw!

you better believe Ill be at thunderdome. Ill have to see if I can make this though. Sounds like a blast!

EDIT: no longer going to make it to thunderdrome :(

Hey Thud
How do gas and eBikes handle running on short dirt tracks?

SoCal Motor Bicycle Racing is considering putting on an event on
the same kind of track.
What tires do you run?
How do street tires work on dirt ovals?

Hey MBR,

Handle? as in how well the bikes ride on the track?
Just like all bicycles on groomed hard clay (nearly ashphault in he groove) but of course, some bikes just handle better than others. you know I will have a chopped frame set up for this.(an E-speedway pedaly bike) but the majority of bikes are fine for this..the guys with dropped bars may want to raise the riding position to allow more body english for stearing.

As for tires, a lot of kart tracks spec the tires so nobody shows up with knobies & destroys the track surface. I will be prolly be running a Maxxis mini pin on the front (24") & a Holy roller or grifter on the rear (20")
(depending on bite)

This particular track is really an oval...nothing that could be construed as a straight-away...makes gearing even that much more critical & bike set up for left turn only is all about getting tire presures right front & rear.

clear as mud?
hope that helps...real racing is on dirt anyway LOL

Hopefully not too muddy....
I like that black asphalt stuff.

Do you have a steel shoe like the speedway guys? Left foot down on the ground?

Is the back tire kicked out and sliding?
Does not seem like motorized bikes would have enough hp for that.

Do you have any video links of motorized bikes on a clay oval track
and did you go to the Ohio event before?

Agreed, would make for some pretty lame viewing after watching real speedway sliders race, need more hp than an electric BICYCLE (Luke take note :p) has, riding round in circles on clay track, no banked turns is about as exciting as watching NASCAR oval racing and thats a mega yaaaawn fest....get on the tarmac Thud, sorts then men out from the boys that just pretend they're racers, in the dirt, Lukes superbike video is clear evidence it takes skillz to mix it up on tar! It's not for everyone :)

Get redemption Thudster! Bulley bike was putting on quite a show at Tucson DR; your rig was the moment topic in everyones' pit. Less blow 'an go and more go

I know you've got your builds together just waiting for a race where the skies don't cry and the controllers go pop. Man, sell your story for movie. Think we could get the ES crowd together, a handful of Go-Pros, and reinact all your gallant attempts/bizarre fails? Maniac garage tinkerer constructs fast electric bicycles while his family and ES buds patiently support him. Then, when it's darkest and least expected, his machine smokes all others. Think: Wright Bros. :p
