Find different suppliers for a good selection of electric bicycles and kits. Important to have reliable, competent suppliers. Ask them for a discount if you sell a quantity of their products. With my Sukkah business I would usually get about a 20% discount. I would then price my sukkahs about 5% lower then the competition. Figure about 5% for PayPal or other merchant credit card processing fees. That leaves approximately 10% profit for me. To be competitive I would also loose a little on shipping as long as there was still a good profit left.
Now customers are shopping around the internet for lower prices. They find my website and call or email. As long as I answer the phone and reply to emails fast, I make the sale. My on-line order form is a bit retarded but it works. I would answer questions, take orders, fax or email the orders to my suppliers, answer "where is it questions", answer how to put it together questions, deal with mistakes, Ooh so many mistakes. Then the wind! Sukkahs are tents that blow away in the wind if you don't tie them down. Hate complainers saying their sukkah was smashed by the wind. Buy another one!
I made quite a bit of money for about 2 months a year. Sukkahs are a seasonal business like Christmas trees. Now I no longer have time to sell sukkahs. Hope to find time to do it again.
Make a simple, fast loading, easy to navigate website clearly showing prices and shipping. Everyone likes my Learn about Sukkot section. I am good at copy and paste. I did get permission. Electric bicycles and Sukkahs have this in common. You can't walk into Walmart and buy one.
