Hi guys,

I'm thinking of the possibility of modifying an existing vehicle to have it electric. I don't need a lot of power, the idea would be more that I want to prove that I can do it. Now, although I don't really know what I want to do, I've done some computations and think I might need a motor that does minimum 25kW and up to 40kW. I don't want to go too high as batteries become a bit expensive.

I've found various sellers that have even 48V motors that do 25kW+ like Parker. My question is weather you know various sellers that provide this king of power levels at voltages around the 48-96-max120V mark.

My finds so far:
*parker http://ph.parker.com/us/en/gvm-global-vehicle-motors-for-mobile-applications
*aswoods http://www.ashwoodselectricmotors.com/interior-permanent-magnet-motor
*yasa (could be more expensive) http://www.yasamotors.com/
*agni - they sell brushed motors, which I don't like / want at all (it is simportant for me to have a brushless)

I've listed British producers as I know them better having worked with some. I'm open to all ideas.

Hi, 25kW at 48V is pushing ~600A. Not sure of availability over there, but these guys can deliver. I have used their AC15 package and liked it. http://Www.hpevs.com

Thank you major, I am looking at their website.

It is a bizare rule in Europe that if one stays below 60V DC then homologation rules are quite a bit looser. I plan to stay below 60V DC (48V rated AC) if possible; likely I'll be over 100V...

FYI - You want to stay well away from AC motors. I've read that in the ev forums.
I can not find the specific post, but its in this forum diyelectriccar.com
I think perhaps maybe the controller might be an issue. I do clearly remember a member on that forum posting to stay well away from AC motors, the poster had thousands of posts so I'd assume they are knowledgable.

I cant find any backup info on that. Maybe its 3 phase AC, I dunno.

Buy the hybrid version 75-7 motor from Zero. This is teh motor that was made for the 2012 motor patch.. these are 40kW 4 turn and usually made for 66V nominal. You can also use a controller that have the field weakening like the Sevcon, Sabvoton, golden motor, Kelly etc.. so you will run 48V and have the same rpm as a 70V battery would give you

The zero 75-7 looks great and I have some experience with sevcon inverters, also pretty good. I'm googling tech details, but not really making good progress, their website is all about the experience  and not the numbers. If you have any links to tech data, power torque f(voltage) curves it would be awesome.

*EDIT: found this, reading through https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=50367
