Hallo,
I have two questions:
1. I want to install a 250W hub motor to my mtb. I want to use it ONLY when i need a little assist in difficult hills and ONLY for this. I will pedal when i use it. Is it ok or i need a more powerfull motor?
2. My mtb is 27.5 650B. Can i install a rear 26inch hub motor kit or there will be any kind of problem?

You will have no rim brakes if you put a 26 inch wheel on that bike.

But if you have a disc brake, sure, put a 26" rim motor wheel on there, and then look for a tall tire, like some 2.5" or even 3" tire for the rear.

Whether the small motor will be enough for you on hills depends on many things. Mostly, your weight, followed by how hard you pedal. What I'm trying to say politely, is if you are in shape, it's plenty. If you are not, and weigh over 250 pounds, it's never enough. then you need 1000w, but it's possible to use the motor only on the hills if you get a geared type motor, that has no drag when you are not using it.

I'm considering a 250W for my bike now that the clutch went on my Mac... but the Mac gears held up great. My worry is the smaller gears I've seen look like the white Nylon Gears and I would probably tear them up. But who knows... till they try.

I like the MAC motors a lot, and they don't weigh much more than that generic 250 Watt or Bafang.

The mac motor does freewheel really well in my opinion. I have a mac 500 Rear on by Trek Diamond frame and it's plenty of power for what I do. I do climb but I don't single rack or beat on it. Maybe Rear suspension would help for that... but I have a hardtail.

Just something to think about.
