Hello all-
I'm working on my first eBike and read a few quasi-related opinions to this question. I wanted to ask directly in hopes of a more direct answer.

I've got two 36v 10a batteries that I will wire in series for 72V. My controller is a Crystalyte 48v 40a unit. Will the controller handle this ok?

Thanks!!

If your goal is to make smoke, then yes. If your goal is to use the controller to run a motor, then no.

That controller can handle a maximum of 63 volts (55.5v Lipo battery). You would need a 72 volt controllerto handle those batteries.

Also, where did you get the batteries from? Most 36v 10Ah batteries on the market would die fast if they tried to put out 40 amps

ha ha, got it. Thanks for the reply.

The batteries are originally from a Pedego bike. Lithium Ion.

I guess I have the option to wire them parallel & 36v 20ah and not engulf myself in smoke.

72v 20 amps controller would work with those batteries. Not too high amps for the battery.
