DO NOT buy from these people. They have horrible customer service. Their site said something was in stock and only after placing the order did I get a notice that it was on back order and would be 2-3 weeks. I asked to cancel my order but was told they only refund for a major fault and since the kit hadn't shipped there couldn't be any major fault. Would not cancel my order even though i contacted them immediatley after placing the order and seing that it was on back order. So they put the pressure on to up sell me on the Lithium Ion battery (at a discount granted) but still another $200. So I bought the extra battery. The kit didn't come in time for our project (school project) after all so I decided to just use in for myself. It would not fit into the forks I'd have to file the inside of my forks. I tried it on two different bikes, cannondale and trek. Sam Sewell told me to buy new forks "they're cheap". On top of all this their customer service person and Sam himself were smart asses to me in their email.

CRAP company run by A-holes that have no interest in happy customers.

We had better luck installing a chinese kit off ebay that came in a timely fashion and installed surprisingly easy for half the price.

Welcome to the DIY community. Too bad it's a rude awakening type of welcome, but welcome nonetheless.

This is why a lot of us DIY instead of buy prebuilt stuff, or kits from western companies that are reselling marked up Chinese goods without understanding the product they're selling *at all*.

ps, front suspension forks can have a little too much meat on the insides and won't fit many hub motors without modifications. But front motors have inherent safety issues and torque steer.

Lick your wounds, chalk it up to a newbie mistake ( it happens ), and check out what others here are building.

Yeah I guess so. They just didn't have to be such A-holes about it. And if their site hadn't lied to me in the first place I would have ordered it and this never would have come up. My son is still enthusiastic about it so I guess we'll try to get it to work on another bike. Maybe we'll buy another cheap Chinese piece of crap to put it on.

I just wanted to get the warning out not to buy from them.

Thanks for the encouraging words.

Buy a cheap chinese piece of not-crap that other people on the forum have tested and enjoy.

This forum is your best resource for how Chinese parts fare in the real world.
Go look for some recommended vendors, do a couple searches, and you'll come up with some stuff.

you used the term 'again'.

did you buy stuff from them before and get service you disliked before this happened?

it does sound like you agreed to buying another battery instead of waiting for the one you had originally ordered so it does sound like it was a decision that you accepted in your discussion with them.

they only made the point that they would not cancel your order after they had ordered it from their supplier which i assume is kinda standard practice in all businesses.

i do not see how they stole or deliberately ripped you off like happens all the time to people here who buy stuff from other members on the sphere.

Well, I made the mistake of ordering from these guys in mid November. Still going through an ongoing dispute, I'll be more inclined to post all the details (including full communication history sans personal details) for all of you people who seem to leap to their defence immediately, after the dispute has been resolved one way or another.

For what it's worth, they're prices are slightly higher than equivalent dealers from other countries, and their customer service is sub par. I would not recommend this company.

I will add to this topic my ongoing painful experience with Dillenger so that others are yet again forewarned.

October 10, 2015 - I placed an order for a 350W 10amp kit.
I did not hear ANYTHING from Dillenger or receive any order confirmation until...
November 9, 2015 - I received notice that the item was on back-order and not available. They offered another kit (ARC Street) in it's place and I accepted. Did not hear anything, received no shipping confirmation or anything until...
November 23, 2015 - After numerous emails I received shipping confirmation.
November 25, 2015 - Received the kit and installed components - no power from battery, will not charge, display unit doesn't function.
November 29, 2015 - After not receiving any replies to my requests for a refund or shipping return Dillenger requests video footage of the problem and I promptly provided in reply.
December 1, 2015 - Dillenger requests I photograph the kit being re-packaged - I promptly provide detailed photo documentation of the package - which uses all the same packing material as the original.
December 2, 2015 - I receive a return shipping label from Dilleger. The delivery address is to their representative in the US.
December 9, 2015 - I receive email confirmation that the package was delivered, signed for and with no problems.
December 14, 2015 - I am now wondering where my refund is and if I'm ever going to hear from them again so I try and get in touch. Dillenger replies that my package was 'trashed'. I call the US rep who received the package. He tells me the battery was at fault and did not hold any power and that, in fact, there was no real damage other than the unit 'looked used.' Needless to say I am now lost and fear that I will never see a refund.

I am still in dispute resolution with my credit card company and Dillenger for the full price of the kit. It is staggering to think that in this day of Yelp and online reviews that a company that exhibits this kind of behavior can stay in business. They really don't seem to care.

You have been warned.

Lane Goodkind,

You were sent an ARC kit from us as the kit you originally purchased (a Dillenger kit) was out of stock. The ARC kit arrived with a defective battery, confirmed by our US manager in Michigan.

You told us you were filing a credit card chargeback for defective merchandise prior to us receiving the goods back from you. Having filed a chargeback for the goods, you're now requesting an additional refund of the original amount.

There is no recourse for a business in our position and our paypal account has had the funds deducted (some time ago) as well as a chargeback fee. These are deducted to your bank (the card issuing bank) by Visa or Mastercard.

If you wanted a quick and amicable refund, a chargeback was not the process to go down. Now you're going to have to wait for your own bank to credit your card with the funds already deducted from our paypal account.

Why aren't we going to send you a refund now on top of the chargeback you've already applied for?

Because then we'd be refunding you twice...

Make sense?

When you falsely stated an ENTIRE WEEK AFTER you received the return shipment that the item 'was trashed' I knew this was not going to go my way given your history etc. thus my decision to resort to the fraud department of my credit card company. Here you are again trying to place blame on the customer! Unbelievable.

I should also state that you have disputed my claim for a refund and thus I am STILL on the hook for the entire amount!

If you want to issue a refund now is your chance since you have disputed the amount with my credit card company claiming you never received the return. Otherwise I'll send in all the documentation I have including the shipping label with confirmed delivery receipt of the return shipment in order for my account to be credited.

I did not open this dispute before you received the return. I did so more than a week after I received delivery confirmation of the return. Unless you'd like to provide a refund now our correspondence on the matter and my time with this nightmare ends here.
