So typical of our over regulated Australia, but it looks like the seller will comply to meet the demands and after all if a slight adjustment here or there will make sales there may be a big market here, btw they look fine to me

Of couse, it only applies to selling em. So they can still sell the bike with lower bars, and then still have tall ones over there on a rack you can buy.

Perhaps sell these bikes with the absolute smallest and cheapest handlebars made? (as long as they meet the exact safety regs, or course!)
This reminds me of so many stories from history. Concerning the assault-rifle ban in California, when the legislature defined what an assault rifle is, they decided that it means a semi-auto rifle that has three out of 5 listed features. One of them was a bayonet lug, to attach a bayonet. And as "everyone knows", California has a huge problem with drug dealers bayonetting innocent bystanders during a drive-by attack. The Chinese manufacturers of AK-47 clones hired a guy with a bandsaw to remove the bayonet lug before shipment.
Then, they specified a pistol-grip as an assault-rifle feature, but by defining what a pistol-grip IS, they also legally defined what a pistol-grip WAS NOT. Enter the "thumb-hole" stock. It "sort-of" worked like a pistol-grip, but...it did not meet the California legal definition of a pistol-grip. (As if, its difficult to attach a pistol-grip to a "ranch-rifle" style of stock...).
Please don't post a "Guns: pro and con" argument. This is a very important discussion about the growth of a "Nanny-State" government and their silly regs, I have similar stories about resticting automobiles and copy-protection of music.

People that can't handle making basic decisions regarding things as simple as bicycles, in an intelligent manner, without government interaction, should be allowed to weed themselves out as they have in the past.... through the consequences of their unsafe, uninformed decisions.....and hopefully, they get it on video so the rest of us can watch people doing stupid stuff instead of doing it ourselves.
Not a chance in hell I'd ride one of those things! I don't need a government to tell me that!
On the other side of things, if the people know that they can make their own decisions and their government is out of control, spending taxpayer money legislating things like bicycles!!! instead of more important matters LIKE SHIFTING THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE INTO SUSTAINABLE CULTURES BEFORE WE CONSUME EVERYTHING THAT WE RELY UPON TO SURVIVE, than it is the duty of those people to change the government or become slaves who deserve their fate.
Most people living in westernized societies are economic slaves right now and don't even know it. They probably won't believe it until it's too late and there's no way out. If you can't take a month off of work right now, regardless of your financial position or savings, be completely fed, sheltered, and comfortable for that month, then return to your daily life with no ill consequences, you are an economic slave. Whether it's repercussions from that corporate job or loss of it altogether, backed up payments, late fees and penalties, or full on homelessness, negative consequences will result for most people living in westernized society that tried do what I mentioned above. If you are tied to any loans or mortgages through traditional financial institutions that don't look at people as sentient beings with unique needs and circumstances, you are an economic slave. In order for you to remain an economic slave, you must remain in control of those controlling the economy. BS like the topic of this thread not only distracts people from the real issues, it is a method of gauging just how complacent they are. I understand that dumb people need to be controlled so rich people can be rich and don't have to do work they don't want to do. I also understand that some rich people deserve some comfort in their lives because they have created positive things for humanity and a lot of poor people definitely deserve their position because they don't care to educate themselves but if things continue like they are continuing we won't make it as a species. We need to prioritize, redistribute, and let the waste kill itself off like we should have been doing all along. No one needs ten mansions, no one should have to live in a cardboard box if they don't want to. It's time for the greedy, evil, unmotivated, and ignorant to go so the rest of us can get along by being nice, creative, free humans. An intelligent response to the lawmakers in this case would be, "Get to work on something important!"
It's really sad, it's not just OZ. It's happening everywhere. Obama admitted on the Daily Show that the American government is flat out too big and too corrupt to make any considerable change. He said that he knows that special interests are corrupting everything and that he just had to decide to work with the corrupt system instead of cleaning house like he supposedly wanted to. HE ALSO SPILLED THE BEANS ABOUT THE COMING FINANCIAL COLLAPSE!!! He made a comment something like, "If we don't bail this bank out, are 10,000 banks going to collapse?" According to the chairman of the federal reserve, there are 12 banks that are insolvent and if allowed to collapse will take the world economy with them. He instantly pointed out that the bailouts necessary to "save" those banks would also cause a collapse. Soooo.......we're just....buying time......one inflation causing, fake dollar printed in the name of bailouts at a time.
So if you read all of this and still wondering what all of this has to do with chopper bicycles..... WHO CARES ABOUT CHOPPER BICYCLES?!!!! Try to get your government to focus on important issues and don't be distracted so much by the BS....
