I have read various internet stories about how well this display reports on how much charge is left in a 52 volt battery. Karl Gesslein seems to think it works ok through the UBE "User Defined" battery setting. Others think it gives a voltage report if the voltage is 56 or under, but otherwise not. I would be interested in hearing from people who have actually used the display with 52 volt packs. My battery is the EM3ev 50V (AKA 52V, 14S9P) Large Triangle. If I can get something half useful out of this display I will buy it, as I am attracted by its other features, but if not I will probably get a batt-man, as I do long rides and knowing how much juice I have left will influence real decisions.

I built a stealth bbshd setup but use a $10aud watt meter to see how much juice is left. Its very accurate if you know where your cut off voltage is.

The battery indicator was really designed for a 48v battery and can't read above 56.3 volts (just stays at 56 regardless of how much higher it is). I've found when the battery bar graph first starts to show less than 100%, I'm at about 50% capacity. The battery graph is voltage based, so will never be very accurate anyway, but it does report the pack voltage accurately once it gets below 56v.

The DPC-14 56V limitation receives much more attention than it deserves IMO. Load applied it usually drops below 56V and the volt meter itself is fairly accurate. It's just one of things which bothers some folks because they know the pack is 58V and the dash volt meter only displays 56V. "The sky is falling!"

It really doesn't present any "practical problem" when you ride the damn thing....
