batterie conversion question

can i convert my 4 -12v batteries to Lithium I want to get longer distance, posibly more speed and much faster recharge time. If this does not make sence to anyone i do apologize. I am verry new to this (remember we all were once) ty. I hope the pic. may help atleast a bit. any help would be apreciated.
 
It will be a big improvement over lead acid. Others have done something similar.

I guess you need to measure how much space you have for batteries first. You also need to know what the maximum current draw of the controller is.
 
In general, you will be able to fit about twice as much amp hours in the box as the lead batteries were. So you will be able to pack in enough for about twice the range you had before, or more. You won't be a lot faster unless you up the voltage with a new controller ,or risk more volts on the old one. Your speed at the end of a long ride will be much better, and the bike may feel better too since the batteries will be lighter. The lifepo4 will not slow down much until the very end of the batterys capacity.
