Today I rebuilt the rear 250w 24v hub motor wheel using 12g spokes from alibaba.
Couldnt have done it without the very helpful blog post by our very own dogman

at first it was hard to get started. I was trying to do it with the motor on its side. Then i saw a youtube clip of a chap lacing with the rim and motor vertically held between two dropouts.
My solution was to clamp one side of the axle in the vice and lace from below 4 spokes at a time for a single cross pattern. Didnt have to measure anything since i matched the spoke lengths from the rusted ones i removed. Difference in gauge meant i had to drill the rim to enlarge the hole for the nipples but that was very easy.
I pretty much have everything to get this up and running again except a 24 volt brushless controller. The one i had i accidentally reverse polaritied a while back and saw the magic smoke.
Another cool thing i noticed is the lefthand side thread which i could stick a southpaw acs free wheel on and do a hybrid hub and RC drive. cool thing would be it could all run of 6s so one battery to bind them all.
Its a joke of a Chinese frame but i only have £18 pounds of spokes invested thus far. anyone wanna donate a 24 volt brushless controller in the UK
anyway glad i did it cause learnt a good skill today. It is nearly true not bad for a first attempt.
