My bike went dead last night and I thought it was a loose brake switch connection because I got it working playing with the brake but it later dead. It is a violamart 1500 watt controller with a sw900 display. I also have 1000 watt control that came original with this kit and an S866 display on another bike and a 250 watt controller I bought as a spare for either bike. When I got the bike home, I noticed the error 10 on the display which I looked up and it seems to mean communication between the display and controller. I tried the spare controller and got the same error. The connector looked suspect so I tried the other display on all 3 controllers and got the error 10 only when hooked up to the dead bike. I also made a jumper to bypass and display and jumpers to bypass the brakes and still got the error on all three controllers when hooked to the dead bike. The dead bike has 48v and 36v batteries and the spare bike has only 36v so I'm testing in 36v only which all three controllers can handle. The 250 watt controller I think can handle 48v but it's not marked. I'm getting 40v from the 36v battery so I don't think that is a problem, plus the displays light up and show full power. That kind of leaves only the motor as the culprit. Am I overlooking something or does error 10 not mean communication problem? I will try the other motor if I have to but I hate to disassemble my only working bike.
