Car2Go to pull out of Calgary and 4 U.S. cities before year's end

The company announced Friday that its service would end in Calgary, Denver, and Portland, Ore., and Austin, Tex., on Oct. 31. Its service in Chicago will end on Dec. 31.

I spent a bit of money ($1000) years ago renting the Car2Go's, what I never liked at all were the Mercedes Benz's because they had very little room for a 6'5" 375lb man to sit in. However the Smart cars had plenty of room with the seat all the way back and the seat tilted a bit.

There is Turo which you rent private peoples vehicle. Looks like the rates are hover around $25 for a car rental, which was like the cheapest deal I ever had at Enterprise for a non busy weekend rate of a Hyundai Elantra, and they upgraded me a few times. Once was to a Jeep Patriot which was a gutless piece of shit.

Communauto - Montreal, Ottawa (partnered with Vrtucar) Gatineau, Que., Montreal, Sherbrooke, Que., Quebec City, Halifax. Members can access cars in all locations.

They seem to be doing OK in Vancouver, I see them fairly often inside the city.

If I lived in the actual city I'm sure I'd occasionally use one on days where I didn't want to ride, it makes sense for a lot of people in a place where a parking spot can run several hundred dollars a month.
