Been having off and on problems with charger, when I plug the charger in it won't charge the batteries or it charges batteries for a little while then shuts off or sometimes it will charge batteries completely. When the charger is not charging it shows red light on 1 and green light on 2 and 44 volts on charging plug end. Was wondering if there was any other way to check charger or could the bms be failing and is there a way to check that. My new 36v battery I have is being shut down at 38.6 volts and I am not getting the watt hours I think I should, what should be the proper volts before pack shuts down.

A 10 series li-ion battery should charge to about 42v.
Try measuring the charger voltage at end of charge without disconnecting the battery. This might give a clue to whether it's the charger or BMS.

Do what he said. If it looks like it is a charger problem then,,,

Sometimes, on and off problems are a bad plug,, generally the strands of wire where they crimp to the contact have severed, and the end now makes contact sometimes, sometimes not.

so sometimes it fills the battery, and sometimes it loses contact, and then the green light goes on like it's full, when it's not.

Maybe not what your problem is, but always the first thing to look at when you have a problem of any kind that comes and goes. Look to the wiring and plugs.

When using a multi meter be careful if you have xlr plug, not to shorts probes on pins. You can shrink wrap or tape your probes so just the tips show.

Turn out to be bad charger, battery five years old and use it every day and works just as good as new, real impressed with this lifepo4 battery.
