"Xiaomi is now getting into the bicycle market"

No pics yet that I can find, but a phone company leaping into making (electric) bicycles (Xiaomi has invested in a company named IRiding, which will soon be launching a smart bike under a brand named QiCycle). 8) Bike described as "a carbon fiber build, motion sensors, and battery-assisted, but not dependent, pedaling"... estimated to retail at [insert gasp here] $3000US.

OK... Maybe go more "down scale, price wise. "Xiaomi’s newest gadget is a foldable electric bicycle that costs $450"

Like the Mi Drone, the bike will initially be crowdfunded inside Xiaomi’s Mi Home app. That essentially means that the product won’t be fully released until a target number of users have signed up and agreed to buy it first, in a similar to way to how Kickstarter projects have a threshold before they are fully funded.

Hehe... Per that techcrunch article "the bike is limited to customers in China at this point." Group/bulk buy, anybuddy? So... sounds like about $500 PLUS shipping cost from China. Wonder how many would fit boxed up and in a shipping container. Maybe "serpentza" (Winston, the "Original China Vlogger", mentioned here on ES) would ship us a container full. Hmmmmm..... hehe Wonder if he's here.

Here it is again:
"Xiaomi's foldable electric bicycle costs just $460"
("That's a fraction of what you'd normally pay, but you'll have to get it from China.")

BTW... Just messaged Winston in China via Youtube to ask him if he wants to coordinate a group buy or something. ;)

The company had confirmed quite recently that they will be present at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next month. CES is one of the largest tradeshows in the world, and we were wondering what are Xiaomi’s plans for next year’s CES, as they did unveil the Xiaomi Mi 5 during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) this year, but the company did not exactly make a huge push outside of Asia as some analysts were expecting. Well, it seems like that might happen next year, as the company has just released a new teaser video for the upcoming tradeshow, and based on it, we are expecting to see a ton of various devices being showcased at CES, which essentially means the company will probably start selling them in the US and maybe some other markets in 2017.
