CONVERSION KITS FOR SPECIALIZED BIKES

Have a Specialized Vita Sport and a Specialized Crossroads Elite, both around 2011. I am trying to see if either of these bikes can be converted to e-bike and whether they can be front or rear motor?

Both should be fair candidates for a rear motor conversion. neither are good candidates for front motors as they uses alloy forks.

Fitting the motor should be easy. However, both bikes use an 8 speed rear. That likely means you will need to source an 8 speed freewheel if the motor you chose isn't cassette compatible. That's not really problematic, even if you are new to working on bikes. However, it does change a 30 minute install into something that might take a couple afternoons of trial and error, fitting, refitting, tuning, retuning, cursing, cussing, swearing, and asking 9 bajillion questions here while trying not to get bike grease on the keyboard.

Also was thinking of a place to buy steel forks to replace the original alloy forks on the Specialized bikes. Anyone know of a good place online to purchase steel forks at a reasonable price?

What is wrong with the current aluminium forks?
If you just go with a rear hubmotor or middrive system you can keep the alu forks and shift the savings to a better battery.
