So Critical Mass was tonight and me and a buddy decided to go for the ride.

Here in San Diego we must have been a three or four hundred strong. There was the whole mix of people there, really young to old, crazy to ordinary... It was a blast riding along in that big of a group, taking over the streets where ever we went. People came out everywhere we went to watch the sight of so many riders making all kinds of commotion. I was surprised that the cops were there and they actually helped block the intersections to let the riders pass. Some people in their cars just honked in approval and some were pissed. You would think people could chill for five minutes and just enjoy watching the bikers pass. One of the funnest things was blowing though all the red lights, there were just so many of us, the opposing traffic did not have a chance, all they could do is sit there and wait. You really had to be alert, as most of the time there was other riders all around you, my buddy almost ran into a car after he was cut off by another bicyclist. There was some guy there on a oversize wheel unicycle, he was hauling ass, no problem keeping up.

Man, that was a adrenalin rush!

I tried to reach you several times thru V ....... What happened to the build of the suspension Next/Lafree sport ........ Never got to read how thing turned out ? I have 2 lafree sport bikes ,1 mans, 1 burgundy step thru ...... Nice but to slow. one battery shot ........

I almost never go to V anymore.

The Giant LaFree/Next E-bike is pretty much done. I have taken it on a bunch of rides and it works great. Running 36 volts of LiFe makes a big difference, the motor seems to handle it well, it does not get hot. I took it off roading a couple of times and it's a blast. With forks built for off road and suspension for the rear I can go pretty darn fast and feel safe doing it. Way smoother ride, do not have to be so careful about picking your way through all the rocks and ruts. Climbing hills is a breeze.

I actually think this could be a huge sport, electric off road MTB's and people would probably pay big bucks for a really fast bike. You would be free from having to comply with any laws too.

I even started looking around for another LaFree or a similar drive through the gears setup. I would like to try and make a even better off road bike, more power, long travel forks anything that would allow me to go faster, take some jumps...
