There is a lot of money in weed.
My little city of ~50k has over 14 retail dispensaries. The area has about 50 legal wholesale growers. We even have a new modern lab that tests for pesticides and the % of THC present. a couple of the growers have facilities that process the shake and bus into oil for vape cartridges. Employment in the industry is estimated to be over 350.
This is a good area for growing. Before everything moved to Chile in the 80's we were known as the flower seed capitol of the world. Now the big crop (at least in volume) is produce and wine grapes. I think next year our largest money crop will be weed.
