Deciphering new Samsung 18650 date codes

The standard date codes appear to have changed on some of the Samsung cells- for example the 29E version 6 and 7 shown here: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=101817 but also the 30Q and others.

These don’t give a clear result when plugged into the online tools like batterybro etc.

From google image search it seems the 4 digits start with H, I, J which presumably are year?

Anyone able to confirm?

the #137 came from digital vapes at 13700 block 104ave surrey bc
the #73 came from ez-vape at 7380/king george hwy surrey bc. 2 completely different stores but identical bunk batteries

So they both purchased from the same Aliexpress/Alibaba/Ebay store to resell to unwitting customers, surely they knew it was counterfeit.

I still haven't found the "key" for reading recent 30q date codes or where they're even at, but the listings @ https://liionwholesale.com are labeled the same way as yours. Samsung is making it a pain to see info customers shouldn't have to dig for. That said, I wouldn't assume they're fakes , unless a lot of these wholesale vendors are getting ripped off as well. Hard to imagine that they don't know if they're genuine or not.

A=2015 B=2016 C=2017 D=2018 E=2019 F=2020
1= month 1 (January) etc ? just a guess

i see what you are saying but i think youre using the code for line 1 and the r3e1 is on line 3. ill open up the 30q im testing tomorrow and see what code it has on the can.

Not saying that these are real since I don't know much about markings under the wrap but ALL 30Q cells have only a 3 digit number as the code and it's usually the same "136"
Just google images samsung 30q and look at every photo possible and it's the same everywhere, 136.

136 is old, 141 is new, you need to take the wrapper off to get the code off the can

Hello.

I also have a problem with date code on my 30q.
I bought 400 of them from NKON. They are "fresh" coz i had to wait for restock and from the same batch. At least they said so.
But i got all 400 of them from 3.41 to 3.44v. Isn't that a little low for a good battery?

On the wrapper below samsung it says 138. And bellow sdi is 3.

On the cell itself first line LOJ4. Second line is 44K61.

So is that April 2019 or im reading this wrong?

So it looks like it is 2019 cell,and probably genuine coz mine has the same exact format of digits on the cell itself like the #72 that is in the post you linked.

But i don't get it why are all the cells so low. They are all at 3.4v.

I've sent pictures of one of my cells stripped down to samsung sdi asking if that is their genuine battery and to explain the codes.

i think theres a theres a "safety" shipping voltage, i dont know if its 3.6v or 3.5v or 3.4v
