First Post. I just put together an ebike for my wife. Go-Hub (Crystalyte 408) with a Ping 36w20ah battery on a Specialized Hardrock. Being someone who bike commutes anyways, I was a little sceptical of this ebiking stuff, but I am blown away by how I enjoy this bike. I am now trying to justify an ebike for myself.

Anyways, my problem is this: Her bike has SRAM Grip Shifters and it is difficult to downshift and keep the thumb throttle depressed while riding uphill. (Also she complained that her thumb was *tired*.) The obvious solution is to add a second thumb throttle for the other hand. Has anyone done this? How did you wire it?

Cant help with the second thumb throttle wiring, but how about your standard
twist grip throttle would this possibly be a better option or are there
gear twist grip thingos on both sides? If your local (to me) i can throw
one your way free of charge i have 4 of them sitting here collecting dust

Best of luck anywayz bud.

OH and welcome to ES

Since I never use the front derailur, my solution was to put the rear shifter on the left side, upside down, removed the front derailur and shifter, and have gone to a half twist throttle on the right for the motor. I found the thumb throttle comfort very dependent on how the thing was mounted. I wanted full throttle to be in a comfy place for my thumb, so I had to adjust where the brake handle was to let the throttle rotate to the optimum angle. I like the upside down shifter, since now with the left hand, I roll the shifter back for more speed, just like the throttle. You could flip flop the shifters and keep both, but not with a twist throttle, but you could get a handlbar or frame mount shifter for the front gears, or use the ones that are part of a brake handle.

Another way would be a left hand twist or half twist throttle, and some other way to shift the front gears.

I have a left hand thumb throttle on my SRAM shifting Breezer. I was skeptical since I am right handed but since I also have arthritis in my right hand and thumb, I am very happy with the left side throttle.

I have a half twist grip, and found that my hand would get quite sore holding in one position for a long time (it's an hour and 10 minute commute). So I cracked it open and took the spring out. The problem this causes is that is obviously doesn't turn off by itself, and I can only suggest it if at the very least you have ebrakes ...
Anyway, it really does help, but if ever I have a spill, it could be dangerous due to no shutoff...

I have two throttles.

Just wire them in parallel.
