The dust lady from September 11th died recently from stomach cancer.
The dust particles in the air that day had asbestos.

First thing I thought of too......
"I'm saying to myself, 'Did this thing (the towers' collapse) ignite cancer cells in me?'"

"I definitely believe it because I haven't had any illnesses," she told the paper.

As of May, 3,700 survivors and first responders at the World Trade Center site have been diagnosed with cancers resulting from the terrorist attack, according to the CDC's World Trade Center Health Program.

CDC's World Trade Center Health Program - Betcha they denied many!

If there's a link between inhaling asbestos and stomach cancer it isn't obvious...
This was the best I could find. There isn't much of a link. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK20334/
There was asbestos in baby powder, too. Most of us over 40 breathed that stuff daily as little kids. We're not all dropping dead from cancer. It takes large doses and over a long time to kill. One exposure is extremely unlikely to lead to death.

I'm very sorry to hear of her untimely death. I think claiming her cancer is related to a single exposure is just media sensationalism.

Well found Drunkskunk, I admit I skimmed it, but it seems there is a small but significant link between asbestos exposure and stomach cancer. I would have expected any other cancers to have been swamped by the incidence of lung cancer.

markz, sue who? To what end?

Doesn't have to be asbestos she was inhaling. Doesn't have to be anything we consider toxic in that volume to do permanent damage.

The main thing is threadbare logic doesn't cut it. An attorney has no business arguing "We have this vague idea that there could be some 0.03% chance that this was involved. Even if there are zero experts backing this up we want $37 million." But of course they do argue that. This goes way beyond the preponderance of the evidence saying 'No' at this time.

That tower was slated for asbestos removal around the time it was hit.
Guy who leased it got his money back on the insurance policy he took out shortly before the attacks.

Look it up if you don't believe me. Google Larry Silverstein.

I have friends that are taking 1 to 3 Tablespoons of diatomaceous earth daily as a supplement. It supposedly has a keen effect on cleansing internals, removing age spots, and helping arthritis, among many other claims. Considering that it causes respiratory distress if inhaled by surrounding the particles with tissue to encapuslate them. One has to wonder if you ingest it, does it get caught in the stomach/intestine lining and do the same thing? Are folks taking it as a supplement setting themselves up for cancer in 20 years?

Insurance payout: $4.577bn
Estimated cost to rebuild: $9bn

Worst insurance scam ever, or more unfounded Truther conspiracy theories? You decide.
