Hey guys,

Still trying to source bits for my upgrade and I’m now looking for handlebar controls. At the minute the main function I want on the handlebars is a 3 speed switch and a momentary switch for regen. I’m hoping to find something with both functions contained in a single switchgear but have not managed to find a suitable handlebar control to fulfil this. Firstly does anyone have such a thing and if so, can you tell me where you got it? If you do not have this kind of thing but you have both these functions on the handlebars, how did you go about doing it?

I don’t want regen on the brake lever basically and i want it as a momentary switch so I don’t have to press a button to deactivate it in an emergency. My other reason for wanting to try and find both functions in 1 unit is that with the handlebar real-estate being so tight after the twist throttle, Brake levers, thumb shifters, lights, Cycle Analyst, Camera mount and anything else i may have forgot to include, I’m not even sure I can fit 2 more handlebar mount switches on there

You mean a switch like this?

or like this?

(Yes, I know there's actually only a 2-way switch on either of them, but there's also a second on/off, so you should be able to work something out)

Thanks Cameron,

I have seen these on ebay (or similar) but the issue is that i wold not be able to get the 3 speed switch to work with this because when uwsing the button to select the last speed ther would also be one of the other 2 speeds selected on the slider switch so it would conflict i believe.

The 3 speed selectors I've seen have just 2 connected switch positions. Speed 2 is no connection- so an indicator switch should work. Position 2 is no connection so would be the indicators off position, but with a programmable controller you could change it to however you want. Disconnect the switch and try a continuity meter on it.

Put a three speed switch on one of your tubes and if your throttle doesn't have a momentary switch, buy one with one.

Thanks for the reply, I have an old 36v 3 speed switch with battery indicator that i got with my original kit but its HUGE, i was looking to combine the two into one unit if possible but if i can get a half twist throttle with a momentary switch then i should be able to fit a 3 speed switch on handlbars as well. Problem is i cant seem to find any throttles with momentary switches, have you got one yourself and if so, may i ask where you bought it please?

Sorry, took me a little bit to get back to this thread...

It's a somewhat clunky 2-step solution, but both switches (on/off and 2-way) have off positions, so you could turn one switch off and then select a speed from the other one, or maybe having two on for a second wouldn't hurt (maybe get a hybrid 4th and 5th speed?), I haven't gotten into the controller guts to see what would happen. Probably wouldn't blow up, I figure, but just in case wear your asbestos pants  .
