i was thinking of geting one of those electric scooter bike things like a 50cc scooter but electric with pedals
but over here there limited to 15mph so i was wondering how easy it is to hack to 25-30 mph without throwing to much cash at it
cheers nick

The one I bought just had a switch/wire to change it from 15mph to 20mph. Anything after that pretty much required new batteries controller and motor, but what do you expect for $550 including shipping and tax.

I think it got like 20/30km max. I'm not really sure because I sold it after using it twice, as it was kind of a piece of junk and i did not want to try to figure where to get brake pads tires and tubes from etc. I was also worried about the SLA batteries wearing out really fast and having to pay $400 to replace them.

The pedals are pretty much useless due to the geometry/weight of the bike.

I also felt much more awkward riding this scooter on the sidewalk because it was big and bulky compared to my ebike. Not that we are legally permitted to ride bikes on the sidewalk in this town. I don't like attention drawn to myself, and this scooter gets a lot more attention than my somewhat more stealth ebike.

The only advantage the bike had over my ebike was that it was somewhat more comfortable to sit on.

haha sound cumbersome the advantage i can see it it will be much cheaper for me to mess about with a scooter that building a proper ebike
im guessing there rubbish on hills?
cheers nick

Forget those things and build your own. Trust me, they are a bad platform to start on :/ The components are typically crap too.

Or another idea.. buy an older eBike that came with SLA and add the lithium power! This is what i'm doing with a Currie bike that i paid all of $150 for!

hmmmm id have to find something on ebay or something as there aren't any ebike shop local
im on a super tight budget like <£300
