https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_bicycle_laws#Texas Is this unsatisfactory?

I found these and lots of other links by searching 'texas electric bicycle law', I didn't even have to use caps locks or anything special like that.

There are lots of laws pertaining to electric bicycles. Some are precise while others aren't. Here's the definition of electric bicycle. Note that it could be argued that a regular bicycle with an added electric motor would not fall into this category, thus making it just a bicycle and having only to follow normal bicycle laws unless defined elsewhere.
CHAPTER 541. DEFINITIONS
(24) "Electric bicycle" means a bicycle that:
(A) is designed to be propelled by an electric motor, exclusively or in combination with the application of human power;
(B) cannot attain a speed of more than 20 miles per hour without the application of human power; and
(C) does not exceed a weight of 100 pounds.
Note Chapters 541 and 551.

Laws??? In Texas???

:lol:

Like Wes said, we have a 100 pound weight limit but no power limit. This is one of the few states whose standard is substantially different than the CPSC electric bicycle product definition.

A Texan can't legally have an electric-assist pedicab or heavy cargo bike-- those are too heavy to meet the requirements. But we can legally have very fast multi-HP e-bikes as long as they are pedelecs, because a pedelec requires at least some human power to run at all.
