Electric bikes are expected to be in abundance at EICMA this year, INTERMOT had a whole hall dedicated to battery-powered transport, but with most of the major manufacturers yet to announce a series foray into the electric motorcycle market, 2017/18 is going to be an important couple of years for smaller, trailblazers such as Energica.

"2016 EICMA: Vespa Elettrica Electric scooter unveiled"

The company hasn't revealed any information of the Vespa Elettrica, apart from the fact that it will be an all-electric vehicle. So, we don't have much to say about the upcoming scooter except its outstanding design and styling. Like all the gasoline-powered products of the company, the Elettrica also gets a monocoque frame. However, this one has a stark metal body with a smooth finish. The satin finish cast wheels of the scooter enhance the premium feel and the electric blue accents further add to its gorgeous looks.

These electric bikes get upto 19% extra torque and 11% added power while Zero will also release its first electric motorbike claiming to exceed 200 mile range per charge.

Set to make their way into markets in 2017, the Zero range with extra torque, power and range are due to developments in the company’s proprietary Z-Force powertrain using interior permanent magnet motors.

Zero has also announced that the company’s current battery structure which was slated to outlast the life of the bike will now be offered with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty on every 2017 Z-Force power pack.

The Zero S is offered in three configurations S ZF6.5 11 kW, S ZF13.0 11kW and S ZF13.0 priced at £11,890 to £14,990 while the SR is priced higher at £16,990. Zero DS, FX and FXS models also follow the same power as the S while pricing stands at £11,390 thanks to the inclusion of a new integrated lightweight battery.

Zero new ZF6.5 street bike and DS ZF6.5 dual sport will have smaller and lighter batteries allowing for a 95 pound weight reduction as compared to their earlier counterparts. The optional Power Tank accessory extends range to over 100 miles on the freeway and to around 200 miles in city and if this proves true, Zero will have the longest mileage range as compared to any other production electric bike.

"Zero Adds Grunt For More Electric Motorcycle Pleasure"

Zero is by far the largest selling electric motorcycle maker in the world. It offers a full line of models for both pavement and off road riders. At this year’s EICMA show in Milan, the company used the occasion to introduce its newly tweaked lineup. The big news is that all Zero electric motorcycle models now come with a new IPM (Internal Permanent Magnet) motor. A new higher amperage motor controller permits faster acceleration times. The drive belt is now slightly wider to accommodate the extra torque of the IPM motor.

In February 1994, India's global newspaper, The Asian Age, was launched simultaneously from Delhi, Mumbai and London. Today, it has editions in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and London. It has come a long way since its inception, and has already established itself within the competitive environment of Indian media as a daily to reckon with. It is, also the only Indian newspaper with an international edition (London).

Neematic, a new player in the e-bike market made its first public appearance of their electric bike – FR/1 – at Intermot 2016 in Germany.

With its 20kW peak power motor, aluminium frame and off-road suspension, the FR/1 is according to the company, a perfect fusion of MTB and dirt bike. Riders can reach top speeds of 100 km/h, a range of 50 to 100km and experience great handling whether they are climbing uphill or shredding the trail.

‘We wanted to create a top performance e-bike for rough terrain. Most importantly, we’ve been able to integrate the motor in the frame and remove unsprung mass in the rear wheel. It is this weight distribution alongside the bike’s immense torque that puts Neematic at the frontier of high performance e-bikes,’ says Domas Zinkevicius, co-founder and chief engineer of Neematic.

FR/1 is also equipped with a 2.2kWh Li-ion battery and uses only top-notch bicycle components such as Fox 2017 shocks, Hope tech3 V4 brakes, Pinion drive and DMR pedals.

Initial design and engineering for the bike was commenced in early 2014, with Neematic then being established in 2015 with backing from Practica Capital, a venture capital fund. The engineers behind the bike, Domas and Linas, leverage 12 years of experience in electric bicycle builds and race suspension engineering.

Neematic is set to launch a pre-order campaign for FR/1 and start serial production in 2017.

"EICMA from the eyes of a rookie attendee":

Writer Liz Keener starts:
Simply put, you gotta experience the Milan show to believe it

My first reaction when I walked into the 2016 EICMA show was: Wow!

I’m not exaggerating. I was so impressed step after step, hall after hall, hour after hour.

And mentions electrics exactly/only ONCE:
I took a walk out to the Motolive area outside (which included a motocross track, an electric bicycle demo area, a kids demo area, a BMW car drifting course and more), and I walked back in just to find I was lost and in Padiglione 18, the furthest away from Padiglione 2 that you can get! In five hours, I don’t think I saw a quarter of the exhibitors.
